Hello everyone. I am beginning my career in esthetics by moving to Costa Rica. I will be offering waxing and am concerned that humidity may affect the wax. I currently live in a very arid climate and do not have experience in dealing with humidity. Does anyone have any tips or product recommendations? I currently use Cirepil Blue.

Thanks so much in advance!

Try these ideas:

Make sure client does not apply any lotions since sweating / humidity will bring the lotion out and then waxing will have a difficult time pulling hair. Oil and wax do not work very well together so no lotions the day prior to the appt. and not just the day of.  This point has to do with skin reservoir function.

Cleans skin really well the days before the appt and make appts in the early morning when humidity is lowest.

Maybe you could have really good temp control in room. Little to no humidity in your room.

Remember humidity creates more blood flow and a swollen stratum corneum so product absorption is higher and can create extra sensitivities and related issues.  Swollen hair follicle cells that do not slough can create plugged openings that need exfoliating so maybe have client scrub skin gently to help bring out all hairs prior to appt.  This point is also important for post waxing hair growth, ingrown hair precaution.

Powder could help but if the client is sweating from the humidity and then powder, well then you might have a paste and that would not work well.

I am not that experienced in the finer points of waxing but I hope this helps.
