I have been on my own and am at a place where I am wanting to hire another therapist.

I have an idea of what I want the commission split to be, but what is the going rate these days? What is your commission rate? Those that are working in facilities - do you prefer hourly or commission?

Looking at getting an idea of what the norm is in 2017.

Couple of things

#1 - If you are both doing the same work -- any other staff you bring on must either be an employee or the must rent the space from you and offer their treatments, their pricing and they collect payment and pay you rent (you can technically "rent": them the products -aka product charge - but you have to call it rent to make it legal.

#2 - There is no going rate.  Fair is whatever two people agree to.  Straight % (what do you do on discounts?), $ per service, hourly plus tips, hourly plus commission....there are a million combinations and rarely is there a "right" one for your situation.

For example, I get paid hourly + a % of services, but that % ranges from 10 - 20% depending on how much retail products I sell to my service customers.
