I had the most horrible facial the other day. I tried out a relatively new spa (the've been open now for about 6 months). They are small, in a strip mall and always seem to be empty, I took a chance and went in for a deep cleaning facial.
1. My facialist kept talking throughout the entire facial.
2. She checked her phone twice during MY time.
3. Another employee knocked on the treatment room door and my facialist went out into the hallway to talk (during my treatment). I could hear both of them complaining about their boss.
4. She did not attempt to do any extractions because she said the magnifying lamp was broke.
5. This facial was supposed to include a complimentary foot massage or scalp massage.
Instead of any kind of massage during the treatment, the woman doing the service instead says to me "You don't want your feet massaged....do you?"
I predict this place wont be open much longer The next day, I went back to complain. Not in a mean way but I thought the owner or management would want to know. They could care less... Oh well..

Wow. Horrible! I had an experience like that too, got a Groupon. The lady also does hair along with facials. Tells me she has been doing this for 20+ years.
-The table was loose, she told me to be careful as I got on so it didn't spin and I didn't fall. Never offered to help.
-Bright white fluorescent lights on the whole time.
-Turned the music on 15 mins in - like an afterthought
-During skin analysis, told me I should have bought more than 1 groupon as I needed it.
_Kept saying "Oh My God" during extractions.
-Told me I have oily skin and needed to buy this cleanser (I have dry skin)
-No facial massage during treatment
-Put mask on, put a tissue over my eyes, left the bright lights on, and said "Ok, I'll be back in about 20 minutes"
I wouldn't go back there if she paid me. And what scares me is people may think this is how ALL facials are.
Good point Jodi, because I feel like I totally wasted $85 and if I didn't know better I would never get another facial. Esthys like that make the rest of the profession look bad.
Exactly. I try to market what they will get with a facial with me, so they know they won't just be left alone laying on a bed with a mask on their face. I'd love other ideas to get the word out that we are not all like that.
Wow, that is why we should go out and get services from other people or places other than our normal sometimes. It can be such an eye opener as to how other people do their business. It really makes you appreciate the effort you put into your own practice and makes you work even more for your clients because you know what they are probably used to before coming to you .
