How does everyone handle their "one (wo)man shows" when they come up sick??

Thankfully, I am just opened and don't have bookings for today I need to reschedule- but I am dreading the phone ringing (the opposite of what I WANT to be feeling) and someone wanting to know if I can get them in today.... and I have managed to come down with a terrible cold!! :-(

My thinking is to say that as much as I hate to have to say this, I am not taking appointments today because I am sick and do not want to share my germs with clients... (something along that line).

Is that professional??? I certainly don't think it's professional to be sick and take clients...

looking forward to hearing how others have handled this.

Thank you!

Well maybe  you could find another esty that has the flexibility to be a 'sub' or on call especially if you plan to expand at some point... that way you can take time off when needed and not have to turn away clients and $$, even though you'd be sharing the profit.  Also it's an idea for when you want to take a vacation...you can still make money while you're away.  Maybe instead of saying you are sick, you can say you are booked today and you're next availability is--- (especially if you think it will only be 1-2 days) it tells your clients you are in demand

I use to always get sick after clients would come in knowing they where sick, it would really ruin the day sometimes the week. I started using and defusing the best essential oils in my salon, now I protect myself and the other clients, I can also change the MOODS when needed. It really matters what kind you use, some can cause more problems. Let me know if you would like more. Hope you feel better

As an Esty who has been on her own for 10 years now. When your sick your sick! You don't necessarily have to tell clients that, when they call, just tell them you do not have any openings for that day or even the next but would love to book them the next week. Let's face it, we have to be ON when we work and you want to make great first impressions. Now! When you build a loyal client base and you have to cancel 10 people in a day, that's another story. If I am not up to it, I just tell them and reschedule, even if it's a day I don't normally work.Stay late or come in early, whatever it takes to get them in as soon as you can. There are some symptoms you can hide when you don't feel well and get away with it and then others you can't!!! If they are good clients they will understand. We are Human too!!!
