First Day at Work....my boss gave me a brazilian client

It was a disaster and took 2 hours! I didn't lift her skin but boy oh boy she was peeved! She got a ticket on her car and made my boss pay for it. Do most places just throw you into a brazilian right out of school? This is my first job as an esthetician. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. I ordered The Wax Chick's dvd on brazilians but it hasn't gotten here yet!

Sorry, to hear that! Most places give you 'some' training and hope that you also have some training before they throw you to the lions! Find as many education classes as you can. Unfortunately i am in S Cal and am too far to teach you a private class. But i do know Stephanie at smooth skin supply is closer to where you are. She is in Sacramento. You really need to get some hands on education. DVD's are great and do help....but you will need more also. Nothing like being thrown in the deep end is there to shatter your confidence so soon into starting your new job! If i was the salon owner i wouldn't let you wax anybody until i had seen what you could do...then i would (as most employers do) will be to help you learn and grow. Greedy boss maybe ..... which inevitably cost her $$ in the end and quite possibly a not so good review on yelp. Sorry Lexy... :(

She's having me watch one of the other estheticians perform a brazilian tomorrow. Then i have to do one on Sunday on another client. I had training on how to do a brazilian in school, but only got to do 1. So, i knew what to do...it just took a long long time to do it. I have no technique yet

Hi Lexy. I'm sorry to hear about your experience. I know the feeling of the anxiety attached to doing a Brazilian. You are NOT alone! Once you get over your fear, you will feel so triumphant! To make you feel more confident, call up your girlfriends. Tell them you need to practice and let them know how imporant it is for you and your job. Maybe you can bribe them with a facial! If you can, for the first one or two, ask your esthetician friend/coworker to watch you and help you.

My advice would be to just get as much experience as you can. Get a protocol, a game plan, and go with it. You are not going to get 100% of the hair (anywhere) every single time. The key is to exude confidence and it will put you and your client at ease. Hang in there, friend!

Hi lexy, i'm a student right now and Im doing my practice with family members and friends for free, Im going to their homes and practice with them, and asking about my concerns in this website where you find a lot of help from wonderful professional people! Be patient, but practice is the key! Good luck!

That was too much to ask of you and a poor business decision on the part of your employer. There's also Lori Nestore, the original Wax Queen, at Eva's Esthetics in Oakland - right by the airport so you can fly up and be right there. That's who I learned from, and I was then well prepared. Hi Lexy, Ah yes, the two hour Brazilian I remember it well! That was my first paying client. Though she was much more understanding. Things will get better I promise. Also, when did you place your order? I don't see anything under your name.
