Have you worn the lashes yourself?  Definitely get a set on yourself. Try to connect with other hairstylists as well.  Put free sets on them and that will actually "soft sell" them to others.  People might be afraid of what to expect at first.  Is it a "new service" around your area?  Don't be afraid to give a few sets away at first.  As soon as most women get them, they love them and treat them like "babies"...lol

you def do need to market yourself to salons around the area- free sets in the beginning equals paid for sets in the end

i do have them on:) i will try and branch out to hair stylists..

sure hope i can get them on some girls...

i dont want to feel i have wasted my money on the class:(

It may take a little while, but once women start getting them, their friends see it and want them too.  Are you an esty or have current clients for other services?  Give a set away to the biggest "big mouth" you have as she will "talk" about it to everybody!  Free word of mouth advertisement.  If you know someone who loves to talk give a set away to her.  You might also try working for a salon for a little while at commission just to get some clients.  It is hard to do on your own if you don't have any contacts.  Don't give up though!  If you were closer to me, I'd hire you.  I so need some lash artists!  lol...

you could place a groupon ad for them. what area do you live in?

Set yourself up a Facebook page and Ask friends to "share" the page. Definitely get a set put on yourself then you'll understand why everyone loves them!
Here's a recommendation from a male eyelash technician; use Group On, Social Living and Craigslist; hair, nail, spa, tanning and beauty salons; my most successful client source is our website. My service provider is Yahoo for small business, it's affordable and easy to create your website. You will not be successful if you do not have a website, plus an impressive business cards. Make a habit to visit 2 salons everyday and offer special price to receptionists and stylist; it will take 5-6 visits with the same salon before they remember you and what you do! Above all, pray and ask for divine help.
Lastly, you need to pick-up speed in your eyelash application; use your immediate relatives and close friends as models.
You would not want your paying clients to lay in bed for 3 or more hours. Believe in yourself and you'll be successful.

Hi,

I really like your suggestions and will start going around to different salons. My speed is at 2.5 hours but sometimes I run into problems. I'm creating a look book now and would love some suggestions.

What are your favorite adhesives and lashes? I'm certified with Lavish Lashes and find their product to be pretty good.

I agree about praying for divine help too! I've got to gain more confidence too!

Thank you for your post and suggestions!

Wendy

I didn't go through a big company for certification, they don't really "train" you in my opinion. So in order for me to get my certification I had to complete, on 5 models, a full set of 50 lashes per eye in 2 hours. I chose models who work in service industries, where my work and word of mouth could travel. Each of my models I gave 5 cards, and told them to make sure when asked about their lashes they gave them the price that they WOULD HAVE been charged. And that's how my lash clientele traveled. Good luck. Go out a get models do it for free. And get your practice, your comfort level, and time down. They will come. Having lashes that you didn't do yourself, isn't really beneficial, as far as speaking for your work. Make sure you take before and afters of even your models and that you have them sign proper paper work.

i found that offering them to female bartenders (that work at busy places) help me get the word out. I did a few servers also and saw a drastic increase in my business. I offered them for $20 at first, just to get them hooked, to cover my costs, and to get more practice under my belt.
