I have been asked so much what is an esthetician that I finally came up with this;

"An esthetician is a licensed professional who is an expert at improving and maintaining healthy skin."

Keys are healthy skin (scope of practice) and licensed. Getting a license is hard work, we should be proud of it.

How would you describe esthetician/aesthetician, skin care therapist (what ever title you use)?

I would agree with you, Susanne. The paths of expertise (i.e. science/chemical vs. homeopathic/natural) will always have distinct, fundamental ideas of how to "improve and maintain" but the outcome should always be the same; healthy skin.

Learning more about skin is always interesting and applicable. It is the one subject that both genders find a common interest. Seeing the outcome of a successful treatment and the positive, self-confidence that it triggers in our client is beyond rewarding!

Yes, if only the public were more aware of what we do!
