Ultrasonic Spatula Question

Okay guys...I've had this great handheld spatula that I've been using and selling for about three years now. It's a little work horse. The company I get them from emailed me that they have a new one for me to check out. It has the positive/negative ions and also red LED light that comes out of the end while you're using it...kinda cool. I've have it now and have been playing with it. I like the way it feels in my hand and it's a sturdy unit. The ultrasonic seems intense enough and the LED is a nice little bonus.

Here's my question to those of you that use a spatula with the postivie/negative ions. Do you think it's really doing anything?! From what I've read, it has to do with the type of product you are pentrating that determines which of the ions you use. I'd love your feedback on this!

I have been looking at the handheld skin spatula for quite awhile.

Mine is a full size with the cord and has a foot pedal.

With ALL of my equipent, keeping the cord or hose from dragging across the client's face is always a challenge.

Honestly, I really don't know the science behind pos/neg ions and how that would increase the benefits in treatment.

Does the manufacturer have any detailed info on that?

For the LED function - I know it's only a small amount of time on the face, but I would think that even that would probably have some benefit in reducing redness.

Hi Shelley!

I am relatively new to the site and am so very excited to learn about this Ultrasonic Spatula!

I do have a few questions about incorporating this device, and I hope this is the correct place to post them...

Currently, I offer one deep cleansing facial which incorporates an array of chemical exfoliators- but I do not utilize any modalities/equipment other than an oxygenated steamer. Waxing is my primary sales, yet I have a heart for helping my clients achieve their skincare goals. (I utilize PCA and Image for my BB as well as retail.)

So, this is what I am brainstorming...

1. Incorporating the Ultrasonic Spatula during my first round of cleansing of the deep cleansing facial, benefiting from the extraction capabilities post-deep pore cleansing tx, then concluding with 1-2mins of increased product penetration during the hydrating enzyme masque stage.

- Should I market this option as an 'add-on' treatment?

- Or would you recommend upping my current facial price and treating this as an all-inclusive treatment?

2. Offer a second facial which is more of a relaxing option- to include ultrasonic spatula during first round of cleansing and then 5-10mins increased hydration, product penetration and firming/lifting benefits during the masking stage.

Also, what is protocol for asepsis/disinfection? (Espec post-extraction.)

Hi Kyong...I don't charge extra for the spatula. I factor it into the cost of the treatment. I do this because I have many fancy toys to play with so to me the spatula is just a great tool to step up my results.

But because this will be your main toy, I like what you said about offering a seperate ultrasonic treatment (or add-on) that is a bit more expensive. I would do what you stated in number two....Creat a treatment that uses the spatula for a full 10 minutes for firming/lifting. Very nice!

I use a barbiside wipe to clean the spatula after each use.

Sorry, I meant lubricant for the ultrasonic blade. (I didn't know if the vibrations called for any routine maintenance.)

Any contraindications for product use and/or skin condition?

- pregnancy, cystic acne, inflamed acne ???

- I saw your note re: distended capillaries on your YouTube video.

Okay, got ya....no lubricant needed for the blade. Contraindication..everything you stated and include pace maker. I have to be honest, I don't recall saying anything about distended capillaries and can't find any definite info on it...I'll keep searching.

Not sure what you mean Tiffany. Which company to purchase from? If that's what you mean...then, the one I sell on my website! :-) I tested a few of them before deciding on this model. I talk about that on my website.

It is included in my protocol for deep pore cleansing facial and in my special event facial (and I use it when I feel like it with certain other clients).

I use these terms and I think most people do:

"ultrasonic exfoliation"

and

"ultrasonic infusion"

For estys that use this as their main tool, they may call it a ultrasonic microdermabrasion if they don't have a microderm machine. Or ultrasonic lifting if they don't have a microcurrent machine. It's an inexpensive yet effective starter tool that I think every esty should have in their tool box!
