Comment by Amy Sherman on October 14, 2013 at 7:57am: Congratulations Kim! Staying afloat is the first step! I promise you'll get there!!! It's not an easy step. It can be really scary! When I left our spa for maternity leave, I did not have ANY contacts. They did not let me return. So, I started over. AGAIN! lol it's been fun AND difficult but I have slowly gotten the word out where I'm at and BOOM!!! My clients who love me have started calling and appearing!!! YAY!!! I did look up the retail license, and it is on indiana.gov.retail licensing. Good Luck and have fun!

Comment by mk on September 16, 2013 at 6:37pm: Well, I've been in a few places since 2009, so I came into the rental situation with about 300 contacts. Not many of those people followed me (the downfall of working in salon/spa settings, most people only get their spa services as an add on to their hair service). But, the massage business has a good Facebook following, and a legit website. I've been able to make rent and stay alive for the last 3 months, so I feel pretty successful!

Don't worry, I didn't learn anything in school either. :D I am doing the same thing, renting a room in a massage practice. Do you find it difficult to get the idea of you being an Esty out there?

Ive been licensed since 2009, and I just started renting a room in June at a massage practice. I need to know how to get a retail license!

It seems that there aren't a lot of Esty's interested in here in the Hoosier state, but we'll soon change that! I'm hoping to offer a meeting group where we can bounce ideas off of each other and gather information on stuff we want to learn. All over the state. I am also in contact with our State Board, not that they want me to be a part of them, but I"m trying. Eventually, I'd like to offer classes for Esty's so we can get training on things that we need to review or upgrade. How are you Kim? Need anything? How can I help YOU?
