I had a client to purchase the Green tea citrus cleanser a couple of weeks ago. Previously, she tried the sample and loved it. Now after using it twice a day, she is experiencing breakouts, Mainly whiteheads. She is coming in for me to look at it but I wanted to know what your thoughts were as to the possible reason ? She has some oily skin, I initially thought the cleanser was stripping too much of her oil and she is not moisturizing properly or using the wrong one. Or is it possibly just that her skin is purging the excess oils?

Hi Sandra:  This is unusual.  Whiteheads tell me there is abnormal desquamation (shedding) and this would not be typical of the Green Tea Cleanser.  Can you provide a few more details?

1)  Is she dry, normal/combo, oily?

2)  What else is she using besides the green tea cleanser?  E.g., what toner, exfoliant, moisturizer, etc.

Hi Lisa, this is very abnormal I think. She is mostly oily  to normal/dry around the perimeter.  she did not want to come in when I originally posted this question. However she has since called me (today) and claims that when she stops using it her skin gets better. when she uses it , she gets little bumps on her forehead, and chin area.... also said it takes away the oil for a few hours but then she get very oily again. She also said something very weird ( crazy) , she said the bumps are turning into moles on her face..she thought they were blackheads , but now they are moles... she is not using my suggested moisturizer, nor is she using the suggested exfoliants. she uses oil of olay. She is coming in today ! I need help with this one !

Hi Sandra - I spoke with you on the phone, but I wanted to answer on-line so everyone knew our conversation.  After our conversation, we decided this might be a customer who simply wants to return the product due to her budget being tight.  I don't believe that the Green Tea cleanser can create moles.  I suggested she try the Blemish Control Cleanser if the Green Tea wasn't working for her.  Skin Script's return policy is that if a customer doesn't like something, or it isn't working for them, please exchange the product and find something that does work for the client.  We accept returns and replace the product for you.  Even I make mistakes on recommending product sometimes, so I understand returns and finding something that does work.  I genuinely believe that people want help with their skin and taking the time to evaluate and finding the right product can create a lifetime customer.  Good luck!

Lisa, thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions and concerns personally today ( another reason why Skin script rocks!). After we talked, my client came in and I took a look and as you said I asked her questions and listened to her concerns. All in all this is the jist of the situation....she was being overly aggressive with her skin. scrubbing the cleanser on her face very hard and removing in a similar manner. she thought the more she scrubbed the better her skin would be. She is not exfoliating at all.  only using moisturizer at night ( she claims she is too oily to use moisturizer in the morning) . She also has a minor case of folliculitis on / under the chin and jaw area. As far as the moles are concerned it is a family trait . I explained I have the same situatiion with moles on my face, it is not caused by cleansers. and there were a few other things we talked about  while she was on my table. Sigh! Ultimately, she did not want to exchange the cleanser (yet). After I educated her on the ingredients in the cleanser ( i read them and the benefits straight from the manual) and  the proper ways of cleansing etc. she decided she would make the recommended changes and commit to come in monthly for facials to get her skin where she wants it to be.

This is a very interesting client indeed !

I love this cleanser (well, I'll be honest, I love everything Skin Script)! I have found that when this happens, it is usually something the client is doing and not telling you (not on purpose). I always make sure my clients follow with a toner so that ALL the cleanser is properly removed.

Obviously Lisa is the expert but just wanted to give my opinion. :) I'm eager to hear what the outcome is. Please keep us posted.

@skintherapist thanks for your reply. You are right as you see in my follow up post, the client was doing some things wrong. And yes Lisa was a big help !
