I did this last evening and my skin was very red in the cheek area and around my nose and burned.  I washed my face and applied a calming moisturier and it felt a little better, but was still stinging when I went to bed.  This morning, the area around my nose is better, but my cheeks are still actually a little burny/stingy.  I only had the sample pack and I won't use it again. I do not have sensitive skin..I have had all kinds of peels and treatments with nothing like this ever happening.  I have also previously used pumpkin products so I know it's not any type of allergy.  Help please?  Anything I can/should do to help? I have a couple of red spots that seem to have surfaced on my cheeks, where it burns.  Thanks!

I can't tell you what happened, but I do swear by a good calendula cream for skin burns and irritations, or aloe vera gel. Both in whole foods- i keep them in my treatment room all the time

Yikes!  Any new medications or recent sun exposure or is it possible you forgot and did a peel a few days before or anything?

Once I was planning to have my colleague do a Jessner's peel on me.  It was on the schedule and I was psyched about it all week.  Somehow, the day before, at the end of a long busy day of clients, I happened to have extra hot towels at the end of the day, and nowhere to go except straight home.  When this happens, I like to cleanse and do a mask or some light therapy before I leave the studio.  Before I knew it, I was applying 20% lactic acid and following it with an acne mask.  The worst part?  Because I was sleepy and kind of floating along after a big day, I really did not connect what I was doing with my scheduled peel the next day.  Nor did I really remember doing it by the next day (since I don't get tight or flaky from such a light peel).  So the next day, I get on the table and she puts the first layer of Jessner's on and BAM - instafrost!  Literally until my eyes had stopped watering, I couldn't figure out why I would be having such a strong response to the peel.

I got a great peel, and you probably will too!  But it reminded me to always ask contraindication questions, even when working on myself or a colleague.

Wow!  No, didn't do anything different.  Haven't had a peel in months!  And this was an enzyme, I never thought it would feel like this!  The lines I've always used, the enzymes are the gentlest form of exfoliation.  I have some aloe, I may put some of that on, thanks!

Ahh, yes, but in the world of SkinScript, the pumpkin-orange is one of the strongest enzymes.  Aloe should be good.  FYI I'm fawning over a new product from COOLA which is an after-sun balm.  Really for body, but I would totally use it as a post-peel product for face.

I haven't tried any of the actual peels yet, if this enzyme did this to me, what are the Skin Script peels like?

i like the ss line, but the enzymes, with exception of the papaya cocoanut, are enzyme peels.  they contain various levels of acids.  they are great for fast results, but not my favorite for clients seeking less aggressive treatment, or with sensitive and inflammed skin.  i adore circadia enzymes... they are true enzymes.  and for 60 buvks, you get quite a few treatments.  my fave is the raspberry.  they always leave a glow.  that pumpkin one is pretty intence and not where id if started,  the ss raspberry, or papaya are nice and gentle... the still leave redness.  whioe i agree redness is a sign of a wound healing responce....  there for resulting in a nice outcome, using too strong an enzyme peel on a hugher fitz coukd damage skin.  prep skin, and build towards more aggressive enzyme peels.  personally, unless for keratosis polarisis, i dont like offer glycolic peels.  lactic take longer, but give results that are the same.

Thanks.  I have never used a line personally or professionally where enzymes weren't the most gentle.  I have used and love Circadia enzymes as well, the Cocoa one is my favorite.   I also prefer lactic acid, it's hydrating and non-irritating.  At least the 2 I've tried so far, from other lines.

Hi Jodi:  As everyone has mentioned below, the Pumpkin is our strongest enzyme.  Most people peel from the pumpkin.  If you want to bring down the intensity with an enzyme, dilute it with a nourishing mask, such as the Goji Berry Yogurt Mask.  You might prefer the Raspberry Peach, Coconut, or Lemon Zest as they are less intense.  Thanks!

My nose and areas around it are definitely peeling from that!  I would have never expected that from an enzyme.  I've tried the other enzymes, so I really wasn't expecting that from an enzyme.  At least it now feels like the burning sensations have stopped and the redness has calmed down.
