I purchased Skin Script's Seaweed Mask as it was suggested for my sensitive clients. I have used

it on two different sensitive clients and both said it "burned" and I had to immediatly remove it. Can anyone give me some insight on this?

Hi Louria - was it burning or tingly?  It is normal for the Seaweed Mask to tingle.  Sometimes I will get a client who says its burning hot and I will remove it and proceed with the Goji Berry Mask.  I suspect they could have some reaction to Seaweed or Shellfish.

Thankyou Lisa! I will look into the Goji Berry Mask. Also I will question the client more thoroughly.

Lisa, I too had the same experience.  My client was not allergic as i did ask her before.  She was sensitive thats why i chose this mask and she said it felt very hot so i removed it.  i then used a soothing mask from another company and she was fine.  I thought this would be a soothing mask.  Any suggestions?

Lisa, I do my facial massage after extractions and sometimes with the pores being open and all the exfoliation and extractions that I've done, they will experience some stimulation in the skin, but it goes away after a minute or so.  Sometimes the client gets nervous if they start to feel any activity in their skin and I always tell them, tinging is normal, but burning is not.

Yes, I had the same reaction.  I put it on to calm the skin after the client complained that the lemon enzyme was burning and she was very red!  I thought the Seaweed Mask would soothe, but no, burned even more!  I wind up just cleaning her face up nicely with a cold towel and placing just a cold water cloth facial cotton mask until it all calm down.  The seaweed mask says it is good following peel treatments?  BTW.  I love all of the SS products!

I am glad to see I am not the only one that has experienced this! The truly sensitive clients are hard to treat.

Louria - I agree!  I have a couple of clients that are very reactive. No matter WHAT I put on their skin they get bright red. No steam at all for these girls.  The retinol scrub seems to work well for exfoliation followed by ultrasonic skin scrubber.

IF the client is extremely de-hydrated (this is in my experience only) ANYTHING you put on the skin can be absorbed rapidly...especially when is has alot of water.

My "trick" is to layer a hydrating serum then a hydrating mist before putting on the masque.

So try 1-2 pumps of the Ageless Hydrating Serum, then the Cucumber Hydrating Mist, THEN the seaweed mask.

@Paulette... the Lemon enzyme has glycolic and lactic. I try to use a milder enzyme before this one. Next time - put the enzyme on before the steam - If client experiences a strong reaction don't use steam at all. When you remove an acid product use a neutralizer before doing anything else. HTH

Hi all! Thanks for your input Cindy!  If anyone ever responds like this, I simply take the product off and (1) either use something else like the Goji Berry mask, or (2) continue with the rest of my facial.  The Seaweed mask is tingly and I use it all the time.  I use it for massage and also reducing any inflammation in the skin.  I like Cindy's comment about applying the Hydrating Serum first, which is what I always do in my facial.

yeah - me too! serums always under my masques!

Cindy, I totally agree with you too.  I always apply the serums prior to the mask.  I haven't tried using the cucumber hydrating mist in conjunction w/the serums, makes a lot of sense.   I have yet to have a problem with the seaweed mask though.  Maybe a little tingling sensation, but it passes almost immediately.  If anything, their skin is nice and calm after using it for the massage.  I love the Goji Berry mask and I just purchased the Strawberry mask.  Hoping maybe Lisa will bring back the chocolate mask???  Unfortunately I was too late when that promotion came out and missed it.  The feedback was so good on both the chocolate mask and passion fruit enzyme (which is now available).  Cindy, have you used the Blueberry enzyme yet?  I just ordered that but haven't used it yet.  I am really loving these products.

I've used the Blueberry quite a few times.  It's a little "chumky" but smells lovely.

A great choice when you want something a little less active than the Lemon Zest.
