One of the Vietnamese clients in my salon tried a sample of the green tea cleanser, liked it and asked me to order it for her. She's had it for a few days and now says its drying her out . She's 19 doesn't really do much hygene wise. I asked if she was using a moisturizer and she said "what's that"?after I explained she said yes but didn't know what brand. She has a few blemishes. Would the pomegranate cleanser be better for her? I doubt she'll want to be bothered using two different cleansers. Another woman in her 30's there (Vietnamese) is so super sensitive, the raspberry peach enzyme I used on her today made her cheeks pink and tingly. She also wants the green tea cleanser but mentioned some dryness when she used it. I have not tried the pomegranate cleanser myself and not currently using it in my treatment room but am thinking this might be better for them. What do you think?

Hi Melissa:  Yes, the green tea cleanser will dry someone out if they are not using the cucumber toner and a moisturizer after.  ::  I don't like to hear when this happens because I really believe its a process, not a product that will help skin.  Honestly, I think the green tea cleanser sounds best, but she needs to tone and moisturize afterwards.  You mention the dryness after the foamy cleanser of the green tea.  I am normal to dry - if I used the green tea, I would absolutely need to use the cucumber toner and ageless hydrating seru.  Please realize that a foaming surfactant will dry someone out; use Pomegranate creamy cleanser for dry skin, plus the cucumber toner.

I am going to refer you to Dave Waggoner's 2-day skin-tensive class in Tempe (fly into Phoenix) to learn more about skin phsiology (80% skin phsiology, 20% ingredients).  It's well worth the trip!!!  We'll teach you to critically think these issues with your client's skin and treat them individually.

Melissa, One of the ways I tone down a gel cleanser that is too drying is to add a few drops of a good facial oil or moisturizer to the cleanser prior application.  Or, apply facial oils as a precleanse in order to benefit from a cleanser that is doing a great job but too drying for some.
