I like your attitude! I just graduated from school and have been interning at a spa w/the potential of becoming a full-time employee but I'm EXTREMELY nervous about the amount of waxing they do!! I feel like I learned the absolute bare minimum in school and now I'll be expected to do all sorts of waxing. I'm just not sure if I'm ready. Any tips?
Thanks!
In this area of TX, that seems to be common, pretty much taught to pass tests. Did you learn good techniques, or is it just practisng you need? Remember, everyone started at the bottom!
Youtube has video's with several professionals, I think it's Professional Beauty from a trade show), overseas, Lori Nestore is one (the Wax Queen), Andy Rouillard, Kim Lawless, they are in 10 minute sections but well worth my time. Have you gone to any trade shows. I've been to 3 -2 hair (1 week into school, one teacher wasn't too good, and I happen know her a bit, she rented in same place I am, she bruised my forearm pretty bad, then didn't do the other, I had to ask her at the end if she would do my other arm-I know she was afraid of bruising it as well, apparently she held it a bit tighter and had no bruising) and the ICES in Dallas, just last month, went to both the Wax Queen's demo's-she told me to get there early and sit in the front seat, I did.! It was standing room only but they did have a big screen. I thought she was awesome! Next week having a 2 day class with her, and there's only 8 of us so we will get plenty of instruction in proper techniques and she will be correcting, etc. I'm anxious to learn the right way, now while I'm still getting my feet wet! Cricket Enos is good as well, I did purchase her eyebrow DVD-I want to get really good and really fast, the going rate for cleanup is $15, at the moment I'm just not fast enough to make money on that area, not going close enough, which means I'm tweezing too much. I'm 63 and my eyesight gives me fits, and have to wear mag. headgear. I have the mag light but it's more trouble than it's worth on the face.
The wax Queen has a great board as well for all things wax-I've learned alot on it as well. some things I copy for future use.
I'd be glad to help in any way I can. I have been an LMT for 13 years.
