As far as pricing for makeup services, what are you girls coming up with? Bridal, Shoots, Special events, etc. Do you just set an hourly rate, or a different rate for each event?

I'm working on my menu and i want to get a general idea of what good prices and a good price set up would be for my makeup services.

Thank you for starting this group Tatiana! I think it will be super fun and informative :) I live in a small town so my perspective might be way different than others here but I just wanted to add my situation to the mix. I do wedding makeup (mostly, with the occasional prom and even Halloween for friends). I charge $20 a person and I will travel up to 15 miles (or 30 miles round trip) before I add a trip charge. I realize this is pricing very low however, I am the ONLY professional in my town who offers makeup apps, I use great product, I am very good :) and I LOVE doing makeup! Also at this price, a woman who might have declined the service, who sees her friend looking amazing will change her mind...$20 is a lot easier to spend than even $25 or $30. Also I ALWAYS get tipped. My most recent wedding I made $200 in less than 90 minutes :)

Tatiana, I just joined and have always thought it would be great to assist in wedding parties since their is such a demand for this in my area where you basically have a lot of destination weddings, so brides do not have their usual salon to turn to....I don't know where your business is, I think the rates are higher here in the San Francisco and Northern California area.

What professional makeup kit do you use?

Well i've built my kit completely but what i do have in it is Coastal scents eyeshadow palettes, custom MAC eyeshadow palettes, pencils & lipsticks, NYX lip pencils and cream glitter palettes, Smashbox foundation and primer, NARS blushes, Too Faced bronzers and eye primer and so other stuff from benefit and makeup forever.

I really like smashbox for photographed events and their primer is amazing. Thats just me though...theres so many out there dont be afraid to make your kit however you please...i know these brands are sort of costly...but apply for your pro discount. I got 30% off Smashbox and Nyx and 40% off mac which makes it way more affordable.

Hey Tatiana, how/where do you apply for your pro license?  I've been wanting to do that and haven't figured our where.  Thanks!

SO you have the $35 MAC membership that you get the 40% off product? I just filled out my app and can't wait to order! Have any makeup continued education recommendations??

How much would you all charge for a video shoot and photo shoot? Hourly rate or set price? What is too high and what is too low?
