As the largest association devoted to skin care professionals, ASCP provides components vital to your success: liability insurance coverage, news and trends, continuing education and webinars.
Hi All! Don't forget to register for the upcoming webinar with Julie Starr on Monday, February 21st. The topic is Apothecary Skin Care—A Holistic Approach. To register click on https://www2.gotomeeting.com/register/888250042.
I love ASCP and now so excited about this great networking tool..skin careprofessionals. I have been out of commission since before Christmas and I was only a year into my new career when I had to have some surgery. Nothing serious, just a bump in the road. Now I'm back in the swing and have opened my doors again and continuing on. I too watched the webinar yesterday on Exfoliation and loved it! Thank you. I have a question. I use Dermalogica, Control Corrective and Eminence on my clients. I have been asked to do some home spas for some ladies and I went to a home spa by BeautiControl and enjoyed the spa party and products, but I don't know much about them. Does anyone have an opinion or comment about them? I thought this might be a great add on to my home business.
@Gladi, In my opinoin, do not use BeautiControl for skincare. It is awful, loaded with preservatives. I had several clients use it and their skin was terrible. However, they do have some products that I love. The EBB & Flow is awesome for feet, and the bath detox is nice too. I am sure all of these have more preservative than I would like but it's okay for a home spa party..
@Gladi, just having this same discussion with another esty in a different group. I strongly do not recommend using Arbonne, Avon, Beauty Control, and all those others out there. They devalue what we as professionals have to offer. They are available to the masses, hence they are not as effective. Comparison: Aspirin to prescription pain medication. Hope this helps.
Join us on Sunday August 7th for "Shelley Show and Tell" mini expo in Northern California. Meet vendors that will not be at the San Jose Face and Body Show. Because our expos are smaller and more intimate, you really get a chance to connect with the vendors!
I am possibly getting a Synergie microdermabrasion and cellulite massage machine in the near future and am looking to find someone that has experience with it. It sounds really neat and I'm really excited to offer new treatments. Anyone have any advice or experience with this machine? Thanks!
Jerrie, do you have a rep in your area? They can assist you with this, or you can call Image and they will add you to the email newsletter. They also notify you about current specials and anything else new.
I wanted to share this great quote I read this morning ... "No organization can function by itself and no organization can operate without direction, which must be supplied by its members," by Evander Francis Kelly.
So, our valued ASCP members, we would love some "direction" from you! What do you love about ASCP? What would you like us to do that we aren't doing? What are we not doing very well? We would love to hear from you!
Jesse, the only complaint (hate to use that word) I have is that there are not enough new articles often enough for those of us who use your "newsletter" feature. I have run through most of them. Thank you for asking. Otherwise, I think ASCP does an amazing job of providing for us estys.
Brenda, this is EXACTLY what I want to hear! It's encouraging to me you're using this great member benefit frequently enough to have this trouble!
I am checking in right now with our Communications staff to see when we can get new articles posted. Thank you for taking the time to give us this feedback! I'll keep you posted on an ETA!

I finished the case study and emailed it on June 15, 2013, for the SkinPro Education. The status shows 50% complete. I am assuming that is because I have not gotten the test results, because it also keeps advising me to do the case study.
Also, it tells me to do Level 2 case study. Is that what will be done after June 19th?
Hi Vanessa-Check the skinpro group for your response and I am also sending you an email. Take care and great job on finishing the course, you did wonderful!
@ Suzanne, I really, really, really, enjoyed it. I learned more from that course than I did in school. Ready for more. I just wish I had the to do what I want to do. But, I like eating so I need to keep working my full time job for now.
I'm SO confused regarding the CA law for Estheticians performing Brow & Lash tinting! If it's illegal for an Esthetician to perform any Brow or lash tinting in CA, than why are approx. 80% of licensed Estheticians doing this service? ..and not just independent estheticians, but very reputable spas, with no Cosmetologist employed, are offering tinting. Why is this law not being enforced by CA Board Board? I'm shocked that tinting services are listed on so many spa service menus and no one is questioning? My clients would all like me to at least Brow tinting and they are also confused when I tell them that they have been receiving illegal services by CA estheticians in the past. Why are so many performing Brow & Lash tinting knowing it's illegal and not getting caught by State Board? I also heard that it's LEGAL for CA Estheticians to do Brows only with an "all Natural" tint, such as Intensives brand. Can you confirm this? Sorry for so much detail - but there's so much talk in CA about this and no one seems to know the true answers. Thanks!
