Hi to all experienced estheticians.  I have done alot of waxing but it will be a new and interesting treatment to add to my profile.  Any tips or where to get CD's to see a pro do this?  My clientele are asking now that we are coming into sunnier weather.  I live in Portland, Oregon so maybe there are classes available in this area.  I would be happy to watch a video as well.

Does anyone know of some great microdermabrasion kits or machines that dont cost a fortune?  Any hand held tools would be awesome to use if they work.  Would love for the feedback.  I worked for a dayspa where they used the big dermabrasion machine that had the hand held copper rod and had to constantly clean it and clean the vaccum suction bottle.  It was really a mess and its not what I want to use in my wellness center practice.  Thanks...I have been practicing for 12 years so any questions or problems you have I will do my best to help out.  Marilyn

Lori Nestore 'the Wax Queen' probably had the corner on the Brazilian waxing video's when I was going to school :) For me, the wax is extremely important. I only like Cerepil Blue for Brazilian waxing- I have used it a long time and know how it responds. It's very quick and clients say they get a much cleaner result than they've gotten with other estheticians who've used other waxes. A tip for getting the hard wax to set up quickly is to wet a cotton round with the blue lotion (also by Cerepil) and dab it on the wax as it cools. It sets it that much faster and you're ready to move onto the next section more quickly by decreasing setting time. And mostly- practice, practice, practice!

There are several DVD's out there for Brazilian.  I like "The Whole Ball of Wax"  However, it does show the technique by double dipping which is VERY unsanitary especially with low temperature waxes.  I have others by other "Wax Queens" Wax Goddess" and the like.  Just keep in mind that it is a combination of the wax you use AND technique.  The techniques are mostly the same with small variances.  Try them all and see which works for you.  I will share a tip that I learned for Brazilian.  Have your client cough when you pull the wax from very sensitive areas like the lower ab and inner and outer labia.  It confuses the body between the cough reflex and the pain reflex so they only get a little of both.  Even if it is just distraction.... It so works!!  Enjoy your learning process!!

Thanks,  I am working on joining Etsey.  Do you know which DVD?  There is one for $49 for 7 minutes.  I will easily get it if thats the one??  Also, will look up the derma suggestions..thanks much.  I watched some horrible youtube videos on Brazilian waxing so appreciate the advice.

This gal has a training DVD for waxing: http://www.ssmoothskinsupply.com/

Here's a couple ideas for microdermabrasion...

I use an ultrasonic spatula and then the dermafile for a fabulous exfoliation. The cost is only $350 for both.

Recently I've been checking out the Dermasweep. Very cool. It's in the $4500 range though. I'll have info up about it on my website soon.

You can see the spatula and dermafile on my website at http://www.shelleyhancock.com

I've been an Esty for 23 years and now spend much of my time helping other Esty's grow their businesses.  Let me know if I can be of help!
