Just had a nervous client, she is having eye surgery tommorow. I did a basic facial with minimum light massage. Im still curiuos if that is OK to get a facial just before the surgery? Any comments, please?

Thank you

Denise, thank you.

i'm not a massage therapist but i got trained in school in regular massage and got certified in plastic facial massage in Moscow institute of medicine. hopefully everything went well and she feels allright. at least did not receive any calls from her.

Absolutely, pre-surgery is excellent for MLD and gentle massage around the site of surgical area. This will improve lymph and aid in healing. Post-surgery depending on surgery and physicians approval will determine when you can offer services. However, I have 'known' therapists to offer mld within 24 hours of surgery. Keep in mind they had physicians approval and were very well trained in MLD. But your client is blessed to have been treated-pre-surgery by you!

Im also an esthetician who had upper eyelid surgery. Just fyi;I did my own facial the nite before with light exfoliation  and massage. I had excellent results and no problems what so ever.I hope this puts you at ease.
