Reading some of the posts tonight has inspired me to share my own tale.

When I started my journey as an Esthetician almost 9 years ago, skin care was never my goal.  I wanted to be a makeup artist in Hollywood.  You may be wondering, why I got an Esthetics License if I wanted to be a makeup artist?  Well, my cousin is a makeup artist in Hollywood, working on all of the big movies and TV shows and she told me that some of her makeup artist friends had their Esthetician licenses so that they could work in spas when there wasn't any movie/TV work available.  This sounded reasonable to me, so off I went to get my Esthetician License.

My time at beauty school taught me more than I expected.  First, it is what you make it.  Second, pretty much the only thing you learn in beauty school is how to pass your state boards.  And finally, perhaps the most important thing, I LOVE to wax.  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!   Little did I realize how waxing would come to be such an integral part of my life.  In school, I was the go-to girl for all things waxing.  Where others were terrified to jump in, I was fearless.  My instructor even allowed ME to demo a bikini wax on her, in front of the class.   I was also one of the few that was able to secure a job while still in school at one of the top salons in the area.  They trained me on all of their services, facials, body treatments and to my complete joy...waxing!

It would only take me a short while before I made the leap from performing waxing services to teaching others how to wax.  And that is when I learned that being an educator is truly my passion.  Sharing my knowledge and helping others to realize their potential, that's what it's all about for me.  Though I still love to do makeup, waxing is where my heart is.
