Alrighty everyone, I'm going to tell you my secret to success, what puts me above the realm of some of my coworkers.... I enjoy massaging feet! Of course I make sure to clean and sanitize them first, but I've found that it has nearly tripled my client retention rate!
When I was first hired at a full service day spa, I never even considered touching the feet of my clients unless they were getting a reflexology facial in which case I had no other choice. I was most certainly not a feet gal.. However, I was really struggling to get clients to rebook with me. Sure I had a few regulars, but not nearly as many as I would've liked.
One day, I simply felt inspired to do a little more for my client, so while she was masking, instead of just doing a hand and arm massage, then cleaning up a bit in the back. I saved my cleaning for afterward and rubbed her feet with Aveda's foot remedy after massaging her hands and arms. The client said to me "I've never had a foot rub during a facial before, this is awesome!!!!" EXACT WORDS... From that point on it is a regular portion of my facial. Just remember to wash your hands afterward, before returning to work on their face, and state that you're doing so.
I hope this was helpful to everyone :)

How do you wash their feet?. Dumb question, but I've never done this with a client before. Do you just use a wash cloth or have them soak their feet etc.....sorry if I sound naive:)
Couldn't you tell them before they undress that if they would like a foot massage during their treatment, to remove their socks? Then you don't have the awkwardness of do they or don't they?
oops, that should have been "their" facial!!
Tanya, I include a foot massage with my facials too and it is very successful...people love to have a foot massage and it's the final treatment that sends them into lala land!! When I finish they're facial they can hardly talk and sometimes drool! LOL

Thanks!
Yes Jodi, I always ask because a lot of people don't like to have their feet touched, but so far I've only had one or two people say no :)
Do you ask them if they want this done? I'm always afraid to touch the feet, some people are so ticklish you can't even touch them! But this sounds like a great idea, I may ask people if they would like a foot massage and see how it goes! Thanks for sharing this!
