A business owner in addition to technical, business and marketing skills must also have a strong work ethic. To succeed in anything and especially in a business one must do whatever it takes to be dedicated.
That may mean seven days a week, long hours, and not taking a paycheck until everyone else is paid.
Through all the trials and tribulations, it's important to always show a positive and friendly attitude. When it is your business one must absorb the stress.  Your employees want to see the boss confident, calm and in control of all situations. A boss that is accessible and a team player.  I feel it's important that great leadership is not just directing but showing.  For example, if everyone is busy it is the employers responsibility to step in and clean toilets, floors or whatever has to be done with a great attitude. That is showing excellent leadership.
When employees aren't busy and asked nicely to do anything then the tone has been set. Excellent leadership. You cannot be a good leader without respect; respect is earned . Treat others as you would want to be treated . Leadership is setting down rules and explaining the consequences of not following .  Never accept discord, bad attitudes and or bad behavior between employees and clients ; never.

Excellence, what an important element in life. That means excellence in promoting the theme in which the business is managed, how it looks, how clean it is, how the staff presents itself and how comfortable and happy your clients and staff are. Even one bad review is not acceptable. Customer service can make or break a business.  Welcoming your clients as they walk through the door; get to know them and provide beverages and snacks to greet them.  Make sure before they leave you ask how they enjoyed the service and request suggestions on how you can enhance their experience next time.  Always get the customers contact information and offer incentives that would encourage them to return . Let them know how much you appreciate them and their business.  A difficult customer can be turned into a happy, loyal customer.  High level customer service starts with the business owner.

Good working relationships between staff and employer are a must in creating a harmonious atmosphere. The business owner should meet with employees on a regular basis to discuss new ideas , concerns and needs. As a business owner you should create a positive and relaxed atmosphere and this in turn will help your business achieve a successful outcome. It is also important to provide on going training to the staff in good customer service techniques, educate the staff on how to sell the products they use on their clients and it is a crucial to a successful business that continuing education be provided for the staff.

Recognition is an important aspect in employee satisfaction.  Business owners for example should have an employee of the month, compensation on products sold , gift certificates for birthdays , and social gatherings for staff and their families ; these are just a few ideas and helps create a great work environment .

Your employees should love what they do and where they work; this will reflect on a well established relationship between staff, clients and business owner .
