I'm looking for a very good product to lighten dark spots on my clients.  It's getting harder and harder to find something with Hydroquinone in it.  Can anyone enlighten me about what the problem with hydroquinone is?  I know I have heard it can cause liver damage, but I thought that was only in large doses.  I have also heard that Arbutin "converts" to hydroquinone once it hits the skin.  Does anyone know anything about this either?  I saw this product in my email today and was intrigued.  I just wondered if any of you esty's out there have ever used it?

The Obagi line works very well, however it can take up to at least 4-6 weeks to start seeing results depending on the severity of discoloration.  You can also advise other modalities such as IPL treatments or even a retinoid, and like always, consistency is key :)

I highly recommend avoiding HQ--my main concern is that it is bioaccumulative so it stores up in our blood and tissues and accumulates. I believe I read that in the MSDS. I have a lotusine and vitamin c serum that boasts a 50% reduction in first 28 days. I also use vitamin C ampules. For severe cases, I would recommend that clients see an MD for a fractional laser treatment like a CO2 laser. I typically prefer a natural approach but for severe cases that can provide most total and dramatic results. I rent space from an MD and the before and after pics are amazing for HP!

I agree with Emilie. The Co2 Fractional Laser it works wonders for HP!
