Advice about Facebool Professional Pages (sorry posted in comments too)

I am a still a student but I do want to open my own business. I know that some of you have a facebook professional page. I am learning how to market my self. As a student still, I need more clients to come to the school. My question here is this: As a student can I create a facebook professional page that will direct more people to my school for me to service? Has anyone done this before? I would like to have the professional page if I can, away from my personal page. What do you all think? Advice is needed here.

I do hand out my student business cards to everyone. But I would like to do more. I have my ASCP web page too.

Yes of course you can do this! If you can take referrals at your school, they will welcome the business. I say start marketing soon as you can. If can only help with your career. it's unfortunate they don't teach more of the business side in school. It feels like a complete disservice to their students in today's world.

Thank you so much Christine! I am going to get mine up and running tomorrow! Our school, I guess will teach me more later on when I get into the business side of (tail end) of my studies! It is a wonderful school located in Newton NC. I just think I should be and they do indeed recommend that we learn to market and network with people to build clients that will not only enjoy our school and its services, but to meet us the students. Hopefully we can build up trust with our clients and they will follow who ever has been doing their treatments. I already have a few clients (thru the school) that request my service. They are always asking how much longer do I have at school before I get licensed?

I am over half my hours now. We need 600 in NC. I have about 400 already. I just want to really get gun hoe and start getting more clients. I love esthetics and really want to build a good business and I need clients to build it up. Again Thank you for replying!!!! I will let you know when I get it up. Oh and our school and myself have photos that I can post there too.

Well, I use fb, twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn. I also have a website, www.austinesthetician.com, which is where I started. I have about 20 videos up on YouTube. I get alot of clients from that too. My niche is microcurrent. This all has happened gradually over the years. That's why I say start now. Friend clients, have them like your biz, and check in at "Diane Magos @ yourbeautyschool", not at your school. You are building your brand starting today. Good luck!

Yes - Start your FB page and get on twitter! Use # (hashtags) to find the conversations that you want to follow. One tip - Social Media takes time and effort - it is a commitment. Don't open your page and then forget about it. Post interesting information, share other peoples information, ask questions. Same with Twitter, comment, reply and yes RT great tweets from influencers in your "world" - Give give give and they will come!
