Add Ons to Services

Hello,

When you add on services, how much do you charge? Say if I wanted to do a paraffin hand treatment, how much would be reasonable and also, when do you let the client know that there is a fee for the add on? I am new to the business and am interested in addin on services for Valentine's day and other holidays. At first I did not like the idea, but all of the publications I read suggest doing add on services. I would love to know your thoughts!

1) I use my stand alone service rate and take about 20% off. It really depends on what the cost of the service is and what you can live with or make worth your while.

2) the best time for me is when I take the appointment, as I often can't after they are already there. I seldom think to ask though! Excellent habit to get into. Think McD's-and any of the other places-they upsell immediately upon taking the orders!

3) Would you like to add on a paraffin hand dip for $ ---?, Would you like to upgrade your facial w/15 minutes additional massage for $---? (which costs you $0 extra.) Or my Valentine's Special includes ---- for $--- a savings of ----.
