Groovy.

Just what we need.

A professional industry magazine now allows Arbonne to run an ad?  Page. 15.  "Intelligence Genius"?

I'm sorry Samantha, I still don't see how you are making any actual profit. YOU still have to pay shipping plus marketing etc. It's an illusion. That commission goes right back into your product line. You don't actually make a dime.

Now, I'm not saying you shouldn't sell product. But I find that it's not a big money maker even though I sell quite a lot. The only true way would be to triple the wholesale price.

Well you're not making money if you're constantly expanding your inventory. Which is smart if you can actually sell the product. But if you just replace then eventually you will make money. The shipping on large orders (over 200) is usually free depending on the company and the only marketing I do is with my mouth so that's free as well.
I think it's time to face that these companies don't value us unless they need us (in the beginning) so that they can tag their lines "professional". But the draw of huge profits entices them to drop us or wayside us if it's convenient. We definitely need to be more vocal when it comes to distancing ourselves from these lines once they've done this. (i.e. Dermalogica, Aveda, and Dermascope).

Agreed! I did my research o n arbonne as a thesis I wrote for my mba. The guy who started it started aveda. He then sold aveda to loreal, who owns everything, and s started arbonne. So, I think all of these skincare lines do the same thing. There is no loyalty to professionals. Greer!!!

I understand your frustration with the business practices, but it really cannot be said that "all of these skincare lines do the same thing."  Everything comes down to the ingredients, and unfortunately, as companies get huge (and move away from professional-only, and start selling on their own website, or worse on dermstore or amazon), they have to improve their profit margins to allow that growth.  Unfortunately since they are lowering their prices, they are often making up the difference with subtle (or not so subtle) reformulations with the goal of lowering ingredient cost.

This is the explanation I give to my clients for why they should take my recommendations seriously, and it is also the reason that most clients who walk into my studio the first time will not recognize a single line on the shelves (even though I carry product from about a dozen different lines).  Trust me, there are PLENTY of lines out there that do remain dedicated to the professional.  Sometimes it means you have to change lines when a company goes big-time (I always keep an eye on the ingredient lists for just this reason - when I start to see reformulations based on cost, I cycle in the next line).  These reformulations can also be the reason that clients say a product has "stopped working."

I used to totally agree with you. BUT now, I'm not so sure. The more I look into ingredients and the manufacturing process, the more frustrated I become. Your wonderful professional products a re mostly manufactured, distributed, or designed by one of only 5 different companies. I have spent the last 12 months looking f or a professional line. One that meet s my criteria. Have yet to find one. I'm not endorsing arbonne. But to say it's crap is not necessarily true either. Especially when it's made in the same warehouse.

Amy you should check out Dermaquest if you haven't already.

Amy that was my issue until I started with product neutral education. I came across corneotherapy and was blown away by the science and ingredients of the Germany company Dermaviduals. It is a unique product line that is truly a results driven line like no other. Their lab is quite an operation in itself. The Doctors, Scientists & educators behind the formulas are world class. If this line went out of business I would switch careers as I now know skin and ingredient composition and the link between the two! Based on results and ethics I can't go back.

I've heard people say that about Osmosis as well.  Glad you love it so much!

Hey everybody! I'm a newbie here (still a student!), and I don't know much of anything about Arbonne. What's so terrible about it? Could you guys give me the low-down?  :)

P.S. - We use Dermalogica at my school, so that's really the only product line I'm familiar with. Thanks ladies!  <3

That's just nuts. I can not stand MLM concept. I use to sell Arbonne before I went to school. Got talked into selling it & needed the money at the time. It's a load of crap. Never saw results with it. I use Skinscript, love the line because you can not buy it anywhere. They really do cater to solo Esthies. Thats my opinion though, another person can say they saw results with it. It really depends on the person & what works for you.
