Has anyone trained with the National Laser Institute? I was thinking about taking their 8 day course in Scottsdale this summer. Just wanted to get thoughts or insight into wether anyone thinks its worth it. I would especially like to hear from employers.  Is this something that you would like your employee's to have?

Hi Roberta. I have taken some training at their location in Dallas, Texas and thought they were top notch. I am a nurse and did their Botox/Fillers course and the instructors were excellent with lots of experience in the field. A nice teaching manual was provided and they also had models for us to do hands on which is so important when learning a skill. Their courses are expensive but I think in this case you definitely get what you pay for.

Roberta,

I know it is in Canada but its worth a look. If you call or email...ask for Vanessa de Mello and she can help you. 100% sure you will not be disappointed if you at least made the call.

I am sure they would work with you on the airfare and lodging if you asked.  That I cannot guarantee but its worth asking.

I took the classes last November in Dallas. The school, the instructors, the classes-all were great. I really enjoyed the entire experience. Very glad I took their training.

Hey guys,

Thanks for all of your responses. Janie I have spoken with a representative at least 4 times. She never seems annoyed with hearing from me and was very thorough with answering all of my questions. I am licensed in two states and she even double checked the state regulations to make sure I wasn't choosing a training that I wouldn't be able to practice at home. I haven't 100% decided to go with them but I am really excited so far.

Marty,

When I was in school in Washington State a number of my classmates were researching the program in Canada. Again nothing bad to say about them the program seems solid. As you mentioned the cost of travel and accommodation are a huge concern.

Thanks for all of your input guys.

Roberta. Janie was my representative with NCL. I liked her a lot. I agree she never got tired with all my questions. Looking forward to hearing if you decide to go. If you talked to Janie again please tell her Darby from Houston said hi
I'm 6 weeks from graduating from cosmetology school and whenever I've asked our esthi instructors whether laser workshops were a good investment, they've replied that employers will train you on their specific equipment and outside workshops aren't necessary. Is this true?

Hi Chelle,

Congratulations on almost completing your program. You must be getting really excited to get started. To answer your question the best that I can tell you is that after school you will find many things your instructors told you simply do not apply, or have been to some degree inaccurate. To be fair I have not had the best post educational experience so I don't want to be offensive or negative, but breaking into a medical facility isn't the easiest task if you have no medical background training. Most Dr.s want nurses or those already able to administer these services. Sure there will be some training tailored to each individual piece of equipment, however I have yet to be thrown any free training. I am a pro education kind of gal though. Especially in a changing field like this more education can't hurt. Good luck.
