Looking for input specifically from those with clients Fitzpatrick 4,5,6. Do you prefer to use a crystal microderm machine or a diamond tip. I have only used bio therapeutics wet\dry diamond tip machine and I loved it. I met an esty today who was appalled by diamond tips. She said the pressure can't be controlled and that your just scrapping the skin. I know that is dependent on the machine and it certainly wasn't my experience, however, I have an equally negative reaction toward the crystals. I've never seen the results but sandblasting a deeper global skin tone would put them at risk for hyperpigmenting no? Very interested in your thoughts. P.S. not looking to ruffle any feathers on either side I just think its a learning opportunity.

I have a biotherapeutics machine.  My clients of all skin colors love it.  Because the diamond tip is recessed, the clients do not feel scratching, and keeping the suction controlled is important as well.  For new clients, I swab an arm section with alcohol first, and let them feel the machine on dry skin.  I have not ever used the machine with dry skin other than that test.  I LOVE using the machine with wet skin. Crystals are too abrasive for many skin types, although for those with open comedones, it can be a great treatment.

I'm with Susan, I have that same machine and LOVE it.  It gives the results without the same discomfort.  I had a machine that used the crystals and just never fell in love with it.

I love my diamond tip and a lot of my clients are 4,5,6. They love it too! :)
