Non-compete's usually don't hold water in our industry and in most states.

A non-solicitation agreement is perfectly legal and is what they should be asking you to sign, if anything

They do in indiana!! Trust me, went through it with a friend a coupe months ago.. It's aweful
I turned down a job at a very busy, high priced place early in my career because of their non compete. At the time my boyfriend was in law school and had access to looking up the spa's lawsuit history... turns out they had sued many past employees. I just didn't want to risk tangling with that, so I didn't, and found another way to build my career. When I used to employ estheticians, I never used a noncompete. I felt that I didn't want anyone in my space under duress - only people who actually wanted to be there.
Don't do it...Look elsewhere for a job. They're out there! Never sacrifice for your dream

It depends on what state you are in.  I've been in the industry for 10 yrs. and have had this conversation many of times.. In CA, there is no such thing.  An employeer can have it written in a contract but they wont have a leg to stand on if they try to enforce.  It's more of intimidation factor for those that don't know.  Again, this is  for CA.
