Anyone have any recommendations of where to get some good spa music? Also do you have any favorites?

At the spa I work at, we use a sound maker from Pier 1 imports, it has nature sounds like babbling brook, rain, beach, as well as other relaxing sounds, something like a harp playing with birds chirping in the background or something. But my prsonal favorite music to listen to while performing a facial is classical slow piano ex: moonlight sonata. Love!

I have an aux connection on my sound system and use my iPod and download music from iTunes. This way I can listen to the music on iTunes before I buy. Using my iPod means I can make a playlist and change up the songs. Helps to keep from getting bored with the same thing over and over.

i did this recently with my old iPhone when I upgraded. I have 5 dif playlists, each 8 hours long, so I can rotate. love it.

I mix it up. iTunes is a great resource. don't be shy about asking other professionals. i was turned on to one of my faves (Dean Evenson) while getting a massage. Another (loreena mckennitt "an ancient muse") was described in a book as "music created by the universe" so i looked it up and loved it. mostly i like non-verbal music but sometimes words are ok (iron&wine, feist, delerium, enigma). some fave non-verbal music:

dean evenson, ocean dreams, wood over water, soundings of the planet

benjamin iobst, seven metals (look for this on meditation websites)

raphael, music to disappear in

tony scott, music for zen meditation

helen rhodes, sleep- the art of wellbeing (she has others, all good)

hope this helps =)

If you have an Internet connection in the room, Pandora.com (Soundscapes) is great!

I got this recommendation ... already using it for sometime and never thought of this station .. Thanks!

I second the vote for Pandora.com. I just opened up a new spa and the music plays throughout the place. You can literally choose from a zillion different types of music. You pay $35 per year to not have any advertisements. Then pick say, Zen radio or massage radio and it plays from different artists that have the same type of sound. Its all I listen to at home and at the spa.

So, do you have one computer/laptop in the main room and have speakers coming off that to all your rooms or what?

Hi Sara, I purchased Spa CDs at Bed, Bath & Beyond. Check out their music section. They have an amazing selection! ungenita

Hi Sara

I use lots of Dan Gibson's/Solitudes and Robin Miller.  Robin Miller is composer of New Age music, met him in Sedona Arizona last year.  Both on the Apple Store but you can find Dan Gibson's CDS at Bed B & Beyond.

I just started my own business and I really love the Pandora Radio.  Definitely pay the $35 ($3.99) a month to have it commercial free.  I like the Acoustic Ocean Radio and had a client comment today on how much she loved the music.  I also think the concept is great because if you have it in just your room, you can completely customize it to the clients likes.

So, do you have a laptop in each room?  or what?  What is your sound setup?

I have one Ipod dock in the office and then speakers in each room that are on sound dimmers. So nice to have one sound system instead of a bunch of random music coming from different rooms!
