Hi!

I have a muitlifunction 8 in 1 system right now.  I think my steamer just kicked the bucket but the rest of the machine works.  I can buy a steamer on the stand for like $130 but I do not have all the extra room in my place on top of the 8 in 1 machine.  I saw amazon sells tabletop steamers for around $50 with shipping.  Anyone use these??  It also says can splurt out hot drips that could burn clients face which made me soo nervous!  However, I wonder if all steamers say that because it was saying just to place it back the 12-14 inches.  Anyone have a tabletop steamer?  If so which brand and do you like it??  Thanks!!

Any steamer can spit and sputter hot water on a client. I am pretty sure they all have this warning.

That's why it's important to do regular maintenance...keep clean, use only distilled water, check gasket for good seal, etc.  Always keep nozzle away from client until the steam is coming out then move it over clients face.

I know people that have the table top steamers...they all seem to like them and I haven't heard of any problems. Because they are made of plastic I don't know that they would stand up to any heavy use.

I don't really think that you are saving that much space - you still need a table or trolley to put it on...or will it fit on top of your multifunction?

And frankly - I need that space on my trolleys for other equipment and product. I keep my steamer pushed back against the wall when I don't need it...I use it in less than half of my facials. Do you have a hot towel warmer? You might be able to do without a steamer entirely for awile, until you figure out what you are going to do.

Thanks so much for taking the time for your lengthy reply about the steamer!! I appreciate it!  I do have a hot towel warmer!

I love my table top steamer!! It's the perfect size for me!! I think it's just a matter of preference. :-)

thanks so much for your reply about the steamer! where do you set yours on a trolley??

Yes.... It is very convenient!! I just move it out of my way when i dont need it!! :-)

great! thanks!

You are quite welcome!! :-)
I have a table top steamer, got it from Amazon, its the Secura hot & cool steamer, I don't use it anymore because I got a full sized one due to the new set up I have, but it works great, still use it for myself. I've had it for a year, never spit once, good amount of steam for a table top one, and the option of cool steam is pretty cool. If you're going to get a table top, I would highly recommend this one, I was skeptical myself about buying a table top steamer, but after reading all of the reviews and seeing that this one really had the best, I made my decision and I didn't regret it.

Thanks Nina! For the recommendation!! I am sure that's the one I would chose if I go this route.  Does it make an annoying ticking noise?? Also, its electrical right?  Did you used to put it on a trolley while using it?  Thanks!!

No ticking noise, which I love, I don't like steamers that tick...it is electrical, and yes I would put it on a trolley, with my hot towel cabby underneath, then I used another trolley on the other side for work space. But now with a whole new set up, and larger space, I have my mag lamp attached to my trolley on one side, and my full sized steamer on the other side next to my hot towel cabby which sits on a tall cabinet. But like I said, now ill use the mini steamer on myself sometimes I lay in bed wrap a towel over me and I just hold it and let it run, I wouldn't do this for a client but the fact that i can do that and not have to worry about it leaking or anything is great. And the cool steam, is sooo relaxing, especially after an intense treatment.

Someone else mentioned with the tabletop steamers they didn't reach far enough to get client effectively.  I noticed this one doesn't have an extension for the steamer.  You must've found it sufficient still though? Thanks for all your input =)

Well truth is, yeah you're not gonna get any table stop steamer that is as good and reaches as far as a regular one, but if it's not an option to have a regular one, you can definately make do. Putting it on a trolley like I did would be your best bet, because you can move it, bring it up closer, and just position it better. I'm pretty sure you can return it, if when you open it and try it out, you find that it just won't work for you, but I'd double check with the company and website. This Secura steamer in particular worked for me, it shoots out a good amount of steamer for a little steamer, unlike many others and that does make a difference, but although it works, I do prefer a regular steamer.
