Plaintiff Advised Not to Have Children After Accutane IBD Diagnosis

Ryan Green | December 20th, 2011 | Posted in Accutane Lawsuit News

Plaintiffs Lindsey and Joshua Gordon, residents of California, are seeking Accutane lawsuit settlements against acne-drug Accutane’s manufacturer Hoffman-La Roche, Inc. With the help of their Accutane attorney, they originally filed their complaint on October 24, 2011 at the Superior Court for the County of San Diego, alleging the drug caused Lindsey Gordon’s Accutane inflammatory bowel disease.

As a result of the disease, Lindsey Gordon has allegedly suffered numerous health problems, has had a foot and a half of her small intestine removed, and was advised not to have anymore children.

Plaintiffs seek Accutane lawsuit settlements in MDL

The defendants filed a “Notice of Removal” on December 12, 2011, indicating that this Accutane inflammatory bowel disease lawsuit will be transferred to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California. There, it will be identified as a “tag-along” action to the current multidistrict litigation (MDL) in the Middle District of Florida, where other, similar cases have been filed by an Accutane lawyer for plaintiffs seeking Accutane lawsuit settlements.

Plaintiff’s Accutane inflammatory bowel disease undiagnosed for months

In her complaint, Lindsey Gordon and her Accutane lawyer claim that she began using Accutane in 1997, and that at the time, the drug warnings said nothing about any permanent side effects, and warned only that she should not get pregnant while taking it.

Mrs. Gordon says in her Accutane inflammatory bowel disease lawsuit that in February of 2002, she became very sick, experiencing sores in her mouth and throat, vomiting, and diarrhea. She spent six weeks between urgent and primary care, and her doctors told her the illness was probably caused by a virus.

Accutane inflammatory bowel disease initially diagnosed as lactose intolerance

According to her Accutane inflammatory bowel disease lawsuit, plaintiff Gordon continued to feel ill, and doctors thought perhaps she was lactose intolerant, but her symptoms did not improve. She and her Accutane lawyer claim she was put on a gluten-free diet for a month, but continued to lose weight and experience severe cramps. She got married in June 2002, but on her wedding night and all through her honeymoon she felt ill, and was too sick from her Accutane inflammatory bowel disease to do any activities.

In August 2002, Gordon did as many other plaintiffs seeking Accutane lawsuit settlements have, and went to see a gastronomist, who diagnosed her with Crohn’s disease. In 2005 she became pregnant, and after the birth of her son took nearly a year to get her Accutane inflammatory bowel disease under control. She became pregnant a second time in 2007 and was hospitalized for her Accutane inflammatory bowel disease several times.

Plaintiffs seeking large Accutane lawsuit settlements

Mrs. Gordon and her Accutane lawyer explain that in 2009, a foot and a half of her small intestine was removed, yet she continues to experience complications from her Accutane inflammatory bowel disease.

Mr. and Mrs. Gordon are seeking Accutane lawsuit settlements in excess of $1 million.
