What treatments are you using with the model in the before and after photos. Also, what kind of time frame did the treatment/results take? The results are amazing!

In our clinic, we use a homecare protocol that consists of the right basic cleansing regimen, plus the use of mandelic acid and/or retinyl proprionate serums along with benzoyl peroxide.  Acne management is all about using the right products in the right way.  In clinic treatments consist of a light chemical peel; or if the client is dehydrated, enzyme/steam.  It takes 3 to 4 months to get these kind of results.  Noninflamed acne almost always takes longer that inflamed acne to clear.

Hi Laura-

Have a question for you.  I have a client with huge cystic acne reoccuring in the same places under her chin.  We have established it is hormonal and she is not on any birth control or hrts.  She has a contact dermatitis to salicylic acid, especially in leave on types.  Any suggestions as anti-aging is my specialty and though I am looking to learn a lot more about acne and would love to help my client out!  Thanks

I would definitely put her on a low-dose benzoyl peroxide.  Get a 2.5% and have her use it just 15 minutes per night after cleansing. Then wash it off.  Wear it for 15 minutes for the next 3 nights. Then double the time to 30 minutes for the next 3 nights.  Double the time again to 60 minutes for 3 nights, then double the time again to 2 hours for the next three nights.  If her skin is not irritated then have her wear it overnight in that chin area.  A couple of months of consistent usage should keep the cysts under control. also have her ice the existing lesions after cleansing.

My question is I have a client a young girl who is 12 and has horrible acne, but with very large black heads, I am making headway with seeing her every 2weeks and doing a enzyme peel and extractions.  Unfortantantly I am fighting her mother when it comes to home care, her mother insists on her using Proactive.  My biggest problem is getting these large blackheads to release and be extracted, her complexion is clearing up and she hasn't gone into cyctic acne yet which is what I am trying to avoid with her and the scaring from such bad acne.
@Dedie - I'm not clear as to what your question actually is.
What can I use to help loosen up those large blackheads that don't want to loosen up and come out.
You could use an enzyme/steam treatment.  What really helps is using the right extractor.  I use one from Cosmopro catalog called Round End extractor size 00 and size 0.  It's all about having the right leverage when extracting and I've never found a better extractor than this to get blackheads out.  And I've been extracting blackheads for over 20 years now!

Do you use the extractor on all the blackheads or do also use your fingers with cotton and toner?

I always use an extractor - I need the leverage to get the complete blackhead out.  I use the round end size 00 and size 0 extractor from Cosmopro.  They are only $10 a piece and the best extractors I have ever used.

Is there a particular brand use? or does cosmopro have their own?
