This issue's Q&A: What do you wish you'd known before you started your career?

The July/August issue will be reaching you soon! We hope you like the articles. As always, let me know what you'd like to see more (or less) of in the magazine.

This issue's reader question on the back page: What's the most important thing you've learned from working as a skin care professional, and what do you wish you had known before you started?

Answer one or both of those questions right here, and we might feature your reply in the Sept/Oct issue.

Dear Carrie:

More business courses!

I started my own business 5 years ago, after 20 years in esthetics. I was a top sales performer, had trained under Cidesco Diplomat's, and had all of the knowledge as an esthetician to be successful, however, dealing with all of the countless financial responsibilities, inventory, advertising/marketing, day in and day out employee situations, is tougher than I had expected! I have noticed that "their" business has taken away from my business in just the exertion of TIME allowed to take care of each tasks.  I am still going strong after 5 years, and a bad economy in our area, however, Ive learned the HARD way, many of the things I could probably have avoided with a few business courses:) I just read Skin Deep this afternoon in the Dr's office:) Love it and gain alot from it:) Thanks so much for the great job you do! BTW.. i was the original skindeep as a yahoo chatter.. years ago:)) Maribeth Freeman

Thanks Maribeth! That is good to know. I'll make sure to pass that request around the ASCP office for our future planning. I have a number of business/marketing articles on various topics lined up for future issues of Skin Deep too.
