Hello! I am very new tho the skin care business. I currently work at a spa but at the age of 36 I have hopes of owning my own business. I want to start my own mobile spa. Has anyone out there done this or have any suggestions? I'm all ears;-

Hello Christina,

Here is a link for a mobil spa in my area. I hear great things but I do not her personally. I think it is a good idea to google mobil spa and call up the owners and ask questions, most business owners are happy to discuss their business models especially if you are not in their area. Good luck :) I have helped estheticians brain storm in the past if you decide you need a liitle help let me know :) FREE of course:) i love meeting women in the industry, it is nice too have support!! link: http://local.yahoo.com/info-55471772-indigo-moon-mobile-spa-lansing

Christina -  This is my response to a similar question earlier this year on another message board (E2E).  I got my license in April and have only one more time done mobile services - bikini waxing & brow/lash tint on three women.  Basically a pre-beach service, I guess.  My set up was pretty much the same as I describe below:

I am a student, so I have not done this "for real" but my goal is to have a part-time mobile business. To see how this works, I have taken my show to a couple of friend's houses. Here is what I do. (Subject to change, of course!)
I have a folding massage table/bed. I set this up in the bathroom if possible. (My girlfriends have both had HUGE bathrooms, so I made a little spa there.) I used a crockpot for hot towels. My "backbar" is carried in a salesman's briefcase my husband had. My Windows 7 phone has a great music function, otherwise you could bring an Ipod & portable speakers. I did manual exfoliation at both of these houses and used my hot towels instead of my mini-steamer. I have the BioTherapeutics headgear instead of a mag lamp. (It fits with my products in the briefcase.)
At one house I did a full facial on my girlfriend - many extractions and some tweezing of brows & chin hairs. (Wax pot was on order.) For her husband I did a sensitive skin facial, hydrate & foot massage.
At another friend's house she was hosting a casual brunch - the guys watched sports and the girls (3) would come upstairs one at a time for an express facial and/or lash tinting. Since I was a friend, they kept bringing me Champagne. Sweet!
Now that I have my waxing supplies, (I purchased two individual warmers so I can just do facial waxing with hard, or the whole shebang) I should be able to offer waxing as well. I do think that keeping it to brows, lips, chin would be best for the Party Plan.
My goal is to be able to bring my stuff in without making it seem like I am moving in. I have things pretty efficiently packed. I also made sure to take my garbage with me, make sure the bathroom was left in the same or better condition. I was able to bring in 1) my table, 2) a rolling crate with crockpot, linens and 3) my product case. I try not to take too many trips. In the future I will add some little flameless tealights for ambiance. (Pack small, safe to use.)

So... That's me so far. I really would love to hear all the ideas people have on this.

Hope this helps...

Julia
