Gladys, like you, I set out on my own after working for Plastic Surgeons for over 15 years. It is the best decision that I have made thus far in my career. Do not count on all of your previous clients to follow you as many say that they will. Be prepared to take steps to 'grow your business' by marketing to new clients.
Unlike many of me colleagues, I have been highly successful with 'locally based' coupons. (Those offered in my city). As a result, my business has grown tremendously! The advertising of my business (free) via coupons has been priceless for me. Advertising dollars that were not available to me when I started. I am featured thru my local newspaper and advertised on four local radio stations each time that I run a coupon.
Sayra is correct, if the customer feels your passion, not only will they return but they will tell others. This has happened for me. It can happen for you too! You have taken a 'leap of Faith' so just continue to have Faith in yourself!
Customers will want to come back for repeat treatments, and I say this with caution, if you "WOW" them with your treatment. That means starting at the greeting to walking them out the door when the session is over. Give them something to talk about with their friends. They need to feel your passion and not just you doing your job. Give much and it will be given back and overflowing! I must say I have worked hard to please my clients but it always come back in $$$ plus a feeling that I am making the world a better place when clients leave rejunvinated, confidant and ready to "face" a difficult world out there. They will seek you out if you offer this kind of service but it does take time for word to spread. I would do volunteering at shelters for women when you have no clients. Those women need a loving touch and you can give this if you find you need customers.

I would recommend not spending any money on extras until you build your repeat customers....I enjoying calling my clients on the phone to remind them of appointments. They get my "smiling" voice tellling them I am looking forward to seeing them the next day.. a more personal touch that takes a little more time but humanly reaches out. Our society is totally taken up with too many texts and emails which seems at times so cold and impersonal. Things seem so fast paced in this world we live in and I want my clients to know this is where they can get away from that! My voice tells them I am ready to help them escape and I remind them that I too am escaping with them. I would say 90% of my clients come to do that instead of placing their skin as the main reason they are here. Of course my passion is to help them with their skin and relaxing is part of the treatment!
yes it is scarey and I am still scared as the end of the month draws near. I have been using sytle seat its free appt setting. I think it is more for hair but it even reminds clients of appts so it works for now. There is an iphone app too. I bought alot of my equipment online via ebay. There is alot to buy depending on services you offer. Website, menus etc its alot of work but well worth it. Good luck and keep us posted!
yes Gladys good luck!! I was in the same boat with groupons and making nothing..I am am making more renting space.
