scalp treatments

I have always worked as a solo practitioner, renting out an office suite. I am now in a salon environment and am anxious to add new services to my menu. I would love to offer a scalp treatment and am curious about protocol. Would anyone like to share theirs with me?

I like the idea of the warm towel around the lower neck and of warming the oil (do test temp before applying). I love the idea of offering as an add on with facial wax! Great idea Natalie!

I can add a bit to the massage protocol I shared earlier (email requests):

It is part of my facials or could be a stand alone as Natalie shared.

In a 90 minute facial, for instance, all steps would be included. If you include all steps I would expect it to take approximately 20 minutes.

In a 60 minute facial you might opt for #2 Therapeutic Brushing, then #1 Shampoo Brushing (omit the massaging with oil step), then brush out before rewrapping the head. A good time to have this massge (when done within a facial) is after applying the masque where you usually have 10 minutes before removing. I use this most often during the first, or refinement (exfoliation) masque and have other massage options during the second, or treatment, masque.

Clients might not expect or want the oil. It can be optional. Give them a heads up when they call in.

In general you might consider $1 per minute.

I would compare prices of other spas in your area. Depending on your demographic, consider what price will be supported by the area you draw from.
