Hi there, I start my first official esthetics instructor position in a week and would love advice from any and all instructors out there. Lesson plan advice, activities to make boring stuff a little more fun, icebreakers for day 1, good place for handouts or projects...I'm equal parts excited and nervous so thanks for any and all advice!!
How exciting for you! I hope you receive a lot of great advice from other experienced skin care educators who are members of skincareprofessionals.com. I'm not an educator, but I wanted to let you know that Associated Skin Care Professionals (ASCP) has two lesson plans available at no charge that would be excellent additions to your business classes.
The first is entitled "Liability and Risk Reduction" and outlines the importance of protecting one's career and personal assets with the proper liability insurance coverage, and also reviews practical ways to reduce risk to clients. The second plan, "Retailing Success," will teach your students that retailing is all about client education, and it includes a lot of role-playing activities to take the fear out of selling.
Each plan takes about 90 minutes to teach, and both include the complete lesson plan outline and objectives, a PowerPoint slide show to show students, handouts and even a quiz/answer key. You can download both entire plans at http://www.ascpskincare.com/resources/free_lesson_plans.php.
I hope that helps a bit, and I wish you the very best of luck!
