Mentoring a skin care student.
When I teach students it is very interesting to see how they can stretch. Sometimes they limit themselves through their own perceived chatter in their head or what they've been previously been told by their peers or parents. As a teacher, the biggest gift to give to them is to show them how to go beyond their box... have them write a paper or do research to see just what talent they really have. Being a role model is a huge gift to them. The best advice to share with a student is to show them that they can indeed go the extra mile no matter what their perceived limitations. Sometimes they have to be given the outline of how to proceed through example (the role model thing).... Keep in mind that they can only grow as big as YOU, the role model is willing to grow.... As a teacher, we should transfer the passion for our profession onto our students.
