Hey Erica,

Friends and family are a good place to start.  Do you work in a salon with other technicians (stylists, manicurists, massage therapists)?  If so, when you aren't busy with client's make yourself visible to the salon.  Introduce yourself, tell people what you offer and hand out your cards and menus. 

What about your existing clients?  If you have skin care client's that don't wax, get them hooked on waxing.  At their next facial offer them a lip wax or a bikini line wax (not Brazilian).   What about your waxing client's, say you have someone that is only doing brows, next time suggest a lip wax or underarm wax. 

You are on the right track to work who you know, that is how you will build.  It's easier to let those people go out and promote you through word of mouth.

What's your specialty when it comes to waxing?  Do you do a great brow design or Brazilian wax?  Pick one and promote that service as something extra special.

Right now I'm just posting on facebook and word of mouth. Any other suggestions for advertising on a budget?

Have you done an open house event? Or Bring a Friend Day?? Gift with service day?

I did all of these when I first started out and they worked really well. I planned them during the busy times of the year and spaced them every other month so I could have time to market and get folks excited. Do you have a salon you work out of or one near buy? Do you know of other estys that you could set up a referral system with who dont offer the services you do?? I love to connect with tanning salons...they are my biggest referrals for all of my services.
