Hello i just joined the group and i am hoping some of you can give me some advice quick! I have a job interview on tuesday and they want me to demo a brazilian with soft wax. I have taken a class but was taught with hard wax and everyone i talk to only uses hard wax. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Thanks, Crickett, for your input. Several professionals have suggested the same but I don't give up easily (lol). I think you are all correct on where I should focuse my efforts and talent. My male clients are very loyal, I just have to bring more of them in! Thanks again!

Hi Efren,

Personally, I think you have a great little niche with male waxing and you should push for more male client's, stop worrying about getting females.  Why do I say this? Men are way more loyal as client's than women.  Plus you have a built in client base if you are really working the gay community.  If done right, you should be able to more than sustain yourself in waxing men without even worrying about women.

Hello, am I the only male waxer in this grup? I have been waxing for 6+ years now and still run into the gender hesitation from potential female clients. I have no problem perforing brazilians, nudies, etc. on women, it's just that most of them prefer to have that done by a female waxer. So my waxing carreer has focused on men and manscaping", but I recognize how much more income is briught in by the female clientele...that won't come to me because I am a guy. Any ideas on how to make them more comfortable and confident that I am a professional at what I do???

Hey Gina,  Having an artists eye is a great asset to being on your way to creating or designing brows.  There are several "rules of thumb" that can be incorporated to determine the best shape for your client.  I find that taking the size of the client's facial features into account is very useful in designing the appropriate brow for them.  I have a great DVD that explains it all and takes the guess work out of brow design.  Check out:  thewaxchick.com for more info on that.

I THINK I do.... but I can't say I ALWAYS know... some brows are quite tricky. I believe I have an "artist's eye" so I can usually determine the best balance based on the natural hair growth.  Do you have any "rules of thumb" or training suggestions to become expert at this?? I really want to niche expert brow waxing.

Gina, That depends on the shape of the brow you are waxing.  IF they already have a properly balanced brow then you are maintaining what they have.  IF their brow is not in balance and you are not changing the shape, simply going around it, then you are just waxing.  I will answer your question with another one. Do you know what a properly balanced brow should look like and how to create it?  Do you really know what hair to take and what hair to leave?

What is the difference between brow waxing and "brow design"?? I try to follow the natural shape of the brow, give them a bit of an arch if they prefer and keep it as full and natural with a polished shape as possible.

Am I designing?

or am I simply waxing??

I'm glad to be one of the very few in my area to offer both facial/ body waxing, and brazilan waxing! And learning different techniques frmo others is never wasted. I have had training with the wax queen, Lori Nestore!

I would rather specialize in brow design which sets the client with a look all her own, one she can feel great about while looking her best thus, earning her trust which keeps her returning for brow waxing to cleanup or maintain what has already been designed.
