As is sit in my house looking out at the snow, and sick with the flu, I am wondering what next year is going to bring in for us! This, naturally, leads me to think about my New Year's Resolutions and they generally are different than most people's resolutions. I want more time to myself, more money into my business, and to finally finish my book. But what about you?
Do you have business goals that you want to persue? What are they? When you think about your goals for this year, what do you want?
Here's how I did mine from the very begining:
1: Visualize where you will be at this same time next year. If you say successful, what exactly does that look like? Do you have a financial number in your head? Jot down on paper everything you see.
2: Make three realistic goals that are a product of number 1. If you see yourself financially successful how do you plan to increase your business? BE SPECIFIC. Do no more than three goals.
3. Break those goals down into monthly goals for the year. Then break those goals down into weekly, then daily goals. I found that I had better visual proof with an actually monthly calendar. On this I had three Goals: Increase clientele, Help other Estheticians, and become a local information guru for skin. I put those on each calendar with the goals for that month. What does that look like for you? How do you want to do these things?
4. Put it down on paper, enlist a friend to help. Make sure that you review your goals EVERYDAY. Sometimes, yes, they do change, but most of the time, they do not.
5. Make sure you are investing your time and money into those goals specifically. Set aside money and time every week to make sure that those goals get accomplished. Have an envelope. I did this with my advertising. I stashed 10 bucks here and there into my envelope so that I could do a fabulous advertising campain. I wrote the end dollar amount on the outside of the envelope and then wrote down the contributions. IT's stupid but it was a huge start in getting me started.
6. People will laugh, but it's not their goal, It's YOUR GOAL. Don't listen to them.
7. Remember to use humor and affection with others. This is just good common sense.
I hope this helps. I know it helped me figure out what I wanted in my career. Let me know what your goals are or if you need help. I'd be happy to offer questions to help you find the answers.
