I'm new to this site and I'm already addicted! Everyone seems so willing to help others! With that being said, I need help too! My twin nephews are going to be 13 years old at the end of the month...Their attitudes and acne prone skin have let us know that puberty is upon us! I know this is typical but it's frustrating to see my little guys deal with this as it's affecting their self-esteem (and I'm pretty sure they're starting to hate me for "picking" (aka doing extractions) on them every time they see me.) I've explained to them the importance of washing their faces every day and night, making sure to use a moisturizer, not touch their face, etc and we've set up a simple routine for them to do. Being that they're only 12 and BOYS though, I'm sure they don't follow the routine as closely as I or their mom would like. I do know that they stick to it "most days" though. Tonight we started doing "mini facials" at my home with professional products in the hopes that the higher concentration of active ingredients will work better for them in combination with the products they're using at home. Mainly OTC products like a gentle acne cleanser, a mild scrub, an oil free moisturizer, etc. Since we just started our mini session tonight it's too soon to tell if they will work. In the meantime, does anyone know of any REALLY good products to use for acne prone skin? Preferably something that I can get OTC and not super expensive. They are, after all, barely 13...and sometimes the cleansers and moisturizers look much better splashed across a mirror or used as squirt guns against each other. (I wish I was kidding....) Any and all advice would be much appreciated by me, my sister, and my twin nephews who are still glaring at me for "using that devil tool" on them again. Thank you!!

Thanks Nancy!! I've heard really good things about Burt's Bees products..I'll definitely give it a shot!
My 13 year old just started having acne problems, I tried a few different things, nothing seemed to work until recently I was at cvs and bought my son BURT'S BEES natural Acne Solutions pore refining SCRUB 100% NATURAL also the BURTS BEES cleansing pads He looks amazing!!!
You're welcome - let me know how it goes!
Thank you very much Laura! We'll give it a try!
My website and blog has a ton of free information about acne. I would start them with a noncomedogenic benzoyl peroxide like Neutrogena On the Spot. It's a 2.5% bpo. Even tho it says "on the spot" you don't want to "spot treat". They will have to get used to it as well by putting it on for just 15 minutes a night, then wash it off and put noncomedogenic moisturizer on. Double the wearing time every 4th night until they wear it overnight. This is a good start and cheap.
