Am I the only esthetician who absolutely HATES waxing?  I know it's part of the license, but it's not why I went to school.  I really want to spend my time specializing in Anti-Aging and microcurrent.  Everytime I have a wax in my book, I cringe.  Just wondered if others feel or felt like I do, and if so, if and how you got past it.

I'm the only esthetician there.  The rest are massage therapists.

Natalie-What wax did you end up settling on?

Well I love it! Lol. I think you either like it or not at least my esty friends say so. I agree with Tammy, make a plan it's a new year, stand back and look at what didn't work last year and change what you feel necessary. Good luck!

Thanks!

I actually enjoy waxing, wish I had more of it. Confidence is also a factor for me especially with brows and brazillians. But i plan to change that this year with a few classes and dvd trainings. I believe that if I can boost my confidence I will do very well particularly in my area where there are very few if anyone doing brazillians and full body waxing....every salon on every corner offers the facial waxing but i've not seen much of anything else. More money & business for me ! Jodi, just look at it this way....you may not like it right now, but it provides the little bit of extra. A skill you may not like but it's a great skill to fall back on if you need to.  Pretty soon, you will have greater choices.

I love it and it came naturally for me. I was the go to girl in school, especially after I learned the Brazilian (This was an advance class they offered outside of the "normal" class actually had to pay $60 to attend). I would take waxing appointments over facials because I was scared to do extractions(it felt like EVERY client wanted it) lol. I do agree finding the right wax makes or breaks waxing. Not sure what type you use, but I use hard wax for everything other than brows and large areas. Not sure it that helps but I feel it takes the work and mess out of waxing. Since you are the only Esty are you able to talk to the owner about removing some of the wax services you offer so you do not have to do them?

I dont wax, I hate it!!  LOL

I think it's both preference and confidence.  Just do what you're comfortable with.

When I started out I wanted to get a little more practice with my wax and did a special "Waxapalooza" for a week...I got mostly facial waxing and bikinis.

I'm solo so now I don't have arms, back, chest, or brazilians on my menu.

I took the men's waxing off cuz I was just tired of the phone calls from guys who should really just grow up.

I keep my prices a little on the higher end and do very few bikinis, underarms, or legs.
