I'd like to get some feedback on this product. Thanks!

Those clients will soon realize Nerium doesn't work. I was given a bottle of it, and I let a friend use and do the before and after pics that Nerium requires. Neither one of us saw any difference at all. The product smells like spoiled vegetables, it is very expensive, and it doesn't do what it says. Have you noticed the women using it don't have great skin? The two Nerium reps that I know don't have flawless skin. The one rep that gave me the bottle flipped out when I told her the true, and told me "the product does work." I went on to ask what training her staff has, and how they know it works., her answer was they do receive training on the specific selling of the product, but they don't learn specifics about esthetics. In my opinion, Nerium is a joke and there is just no comparison to good quality esthetics' products & high quality facials.
Hi Sara, I understand people'sfrustration with the Nerium craze, but as a skeptic myself.....I did start offering Nerium in my practice . Nerium is not meant to replace other esthetic treatments, but it is meant to replace several types of products clients are using to address multiple skin issues. ALSO, if we as professionals can discourage clients from getting Botox, fillers or worse yet, a facelift...wouldn't that be a great secure business model? That being said Nerium does provide a way to earn free inventory and an additional stream of income! People need to have an open mind and be diverse enough to realize the economy is always changing and the consumer is looking for easy, affordable treatments. If estheticians want to stay in business, they need to roll with the changes.
Hi Sara,
I am in the same boat as you, trying to start my business but everyone is stuck on Nerium.
I am so tired of hearing about Nerium. It is spreading like wild fire or a cult.
Here is a sample of what I tell my friends and clients that are asking about Nerium.
The Skin needs a diet just as our bodies do, and should include:
AHA's/BHA's
Retinol
Peptides
Stem Cells
Lightening Agents
Anti-Oxidants
SPF Moisturizers
Professional Cosmeceutical Skincare treats Live Tissue while over the counter only addresses Dead Tissue on the surface.
The Nerium product ingredients include NONE of the above. It is full of emollients, humectants, emulsifiers, skin lubricants and conditioners . While it WILL make the skin appear smoother it is not treating the skin conditions or skin types. It is a temporary improvement. There is nothing in the product to penetrate the skin to get to the live tissue to repair any existing damages.
It is a topical cream that is applied at night and then washed off in the morning. It costs $80 for a one month supply. The trick to perfect skin is a complete regimen that includes a gentle wash, exfoliant, conitioning, and moisturizer with sun protection. So on top of the $80 a month for the night cream you still need these other products to have AMAZING skin.
As for the main ingredient "Oleander Plant", It is a skin conditioner (again just smoothing) combined with Aloe, and in high doses can be toxic. They just made this product 2 years ago so it is so new we will not see any affects (good or bad) for a while.
Hope this helps, and let's pray that this Nerium fad fades fast.
That was well written and very informative.
Jen, thank you! I love the way you broke this down and hope you don't mind me borrowing it :).
Thank you and I don't mind at all. I think the more information we can gain from each other the better we can protect what we love, providing excellent professional skin care using excellent professional products.
Jenn, I just wanted to admire your professionalism. I am a new Esthetician and loving it. Just confused about products and treatments to choose from. I can for sure pick your brain and use your knowledge on making a decision on products and menu of services if you dont mind.
I agree that Nerium is MLM junk! I was approached and given a free bottle of Nerium--first of all the garden salad stench is enough to make me ill. Secondly, I did not see any visible results with the before and after pictures. Quite frankly any product that makes too good to be true claims probably is full of b.s. The Nerium rep I spoke with had no clue about how the skin works, all she was interested in was promoting and selling Nerium. To me, and this is just my opinion, but Nerium is the skin care equilavlent of any other generic MLM marketing junk. The Nerium reps that I've come across don't have good skin, so if the product does wonders why don't they have good skin? Just wondering.
