Hello. I am doing my first bikini wax on a client tomorrow. Anyone have tips for me? I'm thinking this is probably is difficult area to wax. So I will take any advice. Thank you!

Sorry, but this post has bothered me. It has not bothered me just because I am a waxing educator, but it concerns me that Estheticians 'practice' on a paying clients without knowing what they are doing. I have had sooo many clients over the years come to me with horror stories and a general fear of waxing from Estheticians, because they had a bad experience where the Esthetician didn't know what she was doing. This does give other Estheticians a bad name. Seriously in all honesty, it is too complex to type the correct procedure. I believe you should (if you cannot afford to take classes in bikini waxing) you should at least practice on close friends and family that are not paying clients before you go working on the public. Admittedly, you won't exactly 'kill' your client, but you can bruise them and it can also affect your confidence where you become afraid of waxing and decide to never do it again thinking it is the root of all evil if it doesn't go as planned. Take some classes, watch some video's, get a few bikini waxes yourself....but please don't practice on paying clients! :(
This client is not a "paying" client. It is my best friend who wanted a bikini wax before her vacation. I call her a client because she comes to me for facials monthly and insists on tipping me. I offered to do her bikini. So anyway, I have not had the opportunity to wax that area in school (not my fault). I've waxed every other part of the body so I'm not new at it. I am just asking for tips or advice to ensure I do not bruise or hurt her because it is a delicate area. Maybe some suggestions, like should I use hard wax or soft? I know I can use either, but what would work best? Is there a type of wax? Just simple tips not step by step waxing instructions.
Use hard wax. It shrink wraps around the hair and doesn't touch the skin per se. Apply firm pressure when applying the wax always using both hands when we wax. Remove the wax parallel like you do with all waxing regardless of whether it is strips or stripless.
Protect the tendon (side of the leg/thigh) by pushing your fingers under it when removing the wax around the sides. Not protecting the tendon can result in bruising. Take small areas and take your sweet time if you have too. Have her leg bent to the side. Get her to assist you by holding skin, keeping areas taut as you work around the bikini area. Just take your time....no rush.
Thank you! :) Will do! I thought hard wax would be best.
Thank you!! It worked out well. I actually did a great job :) Thanks for your help.
You've probably already done the bikini wax, but my biggest obstacle was self confidence. You have trained, yes ? You know your products, yes? Just stay calm and remember technique....you will do fine.....it takes a few and continued education is very important. Best of luck !
