Please see the attached photo. She is African American and has dark patches around her forehead that's been there for years. I think it may be hormonal. I was wondering if I should start with a dermafile treatment or lactic peel. Please advise your suggestion.
Hi Tamika: I have attached our TCA protocol which was designed specifically for Fit 4-6 (however, it will work on all fitzpatricks). I like your idea of starting with a mild enzyme and a dermafile treatment, proceeding then into lactics and glycolics (as noted on the attached protocol). Set expectations with your client about results. I will generally say 50-80% improvement based on the client. Ensure they are using the homecare which provides lighteners on a daily basis to continuously lift pigment. Ensure you take pictures to document your progress. Always feel free to call me at 480-543-1121 or e-mail me at lisa@skinscriptrx.com if you need help with this protocol.
I would start with Lemon Zest enzymes, then move into Lactic Peels. Because the skin has been burned, it will probably be very susceptible for more hyperpigmentation. Start slow and let me know how it goes. If all is well, then yes, you could start with 1-2 layers of TCA. Ensure they are using the glycolic/retinol pads at home as those will lift pigment.
