Hi!
Recently I found out that Aestheticians could/maybe do dermaplaning in the state of TN. According to the State Board of Cosmetology of TN, they directed me to :
"Only the non-living, uppermost layers of facial skin, known as the epidermis, may, by any
method or means, be removed, and in such event may be removed only for the purpose of
beautification.
Skin removal techniques and practices which affect the living layers of facial skin, known as the dermis are prohibited"
I have never done dermaplaning before. Does it come into contact with the dermis? Do you translate this "law/rule" as being able to do the procedure? The person I spoke with at our state board said basically said yes, as long as it doesn't touch the dermis. But then our skin care account said we needed a medical license. I am confused! Help!
