I asked this question on the ss group page as well but am hoping to get extra input.Has anyone on here used the cranberry turnover peel all over on a client? I have only used it as a spot treatment but I have a client with pretty severe acne and we have been doing mandelic peels which are helping but I would like to see a little more improvement. What is the downtime for using this peel on the entire face and how much peeling/flaking can she expect?

I had the same question about this peel, so I used it on myself. No down time and light flaking.

This peel is a 20% Sal Acid peel.  Expect very little and also based on the container it is a cream and with my mfgr experience would produce a lighter peel as well.  For Sal acid and Lac acid it would be better to go with a liquid based peel then a cream.  The cream base keeps the sal acid away from the skin and therefore is a weaker peel then if not.

Also is there a reason you are doing 'Mandelic Acid'?  The reason I ask is that its much better to use Glycolic or Salicylic and leave the pigmentation issues with a skin lightening product.  Separate those two parts for sure.  And I am almost afraid to ask :) but what scale is your client?  On a 1 - 4 with 1 being normal teenage to 4 being the worst imaginable.

Thank you for your input. I am not using the Mandelic Acid for pigmentation issues I am using it to treat her acne with great success. She is a 3 on a 1-4 scale. I ended up using the ss sal peel as an alpha-beta peel and it came out beautifully but I agree that it wasn't quite the strength I was looking for (she didn't even get any flaking just dryness but It did affect her acne nicely). The next treatment we did which was yesterday was a liquid alpha-beta peel (mandelic/sal) which I chose for greater penetration.

I have a few younger clients with acne in the 2-3 range of Martys scale. I use the cranberry ever 3 weeks on them and its really supporting them healing and getting their breakouts under control while we investigate nutrition and other lifestyle factors.

Little peeling but can burn pretty deep into open sores from picking. I watch it very carefully because it can be kind of uncomfortable for the girls. With good home care its been very helpful
