Years ago I spent about $4000 on a fancy electric facial bed. When I sold my Skin Care Center, I left it there. I took a break from esthetics and then when I started back up, I got a massage table at Costco, put one of those cushy egg carton foam pads down and then a heating pad and a pretty cover. I place a retangle yoga pillow under their knees after they lay down. I have clients that have been with me for 24 years now and not one of them said "Oh, I miss that fancy bed you used to have". The moral of this story is, you really don't have to have a sky high budget to make them comfortable.
Because you are doing waxing also, height may be an issue for you with a massage table. One of the manufactureres I work with has a hydraulic bed and chair for $950 (free shipping!). If you'd like to chat about it, email me directly.
I found a beautiful white one on minerva.com for a GREAT price (only $479!!). I did the eggshell + fluffy blanket + mattress pad under a sheet, and added a bolster for their knees. very comfortable. sturdy- and I really like the base. it is hydraulic. I can't work it well with them on it is the only downside (I can put them down- just not pump them up). so you basically position it where you want it BEFORE the service- and if you switch services that require different heights, you have them step off first.
Sheepskin sounds heavenly!!
I went to IKEA and bought my sheets... CHEAP!!!
I purchased a massage table by Earthlite which has a tilt back. It's very light weight and the price was pretty resonable. I also use a heating pad, clients love it! I put a twin waterproof mattress cover to protect it from water etc.. Another tip- I put a bolster or pillow under the clients knees to ease any back discomfort.
Hope this helps!
Do you purchase twin size sheets or sheets made for the massage beds?
I buy twin single packaged sheets at Target or Walmart
I purchase twin or full size sheets but, I look places such as Marshalls or Tjmaxx because you get a better grade of sheet (higher thread count) thus better feel on clients skin for approx. same as Target or Walmart. Plus they stand up longer with daily use and washes.
So you just use the flat and not the fitted?
I use both. Usually only twin fitted but, twin or full flat so, sometimes that means two flat are being used together. I am an Esty and CMT so I love having flexibility.
Check CraigsList in your area as well - lot's of used and new spa equipment available.
