I am thinking about adding this service to my menu and would like to hear from others who are offering sugaring. I have not been trained yet but have recently been sugared by another esto. I liked the experience far more than waxing but it was not as thorough (could have been the application) as wax and oddly enough, It made me breakout. I never breakout anymore from waxing so I'm wondering if this is an expected response for skin that is not used

I'm interested in knowing if sugaring is the "cash cow" that waxing is?

Hi Deborah,

I got your message on the Alexandria Professional group too. To answer your questions.

Yes, Sugaring is the cash cow, or as we call it the Pot of Gold Sweet Nectar.

Sugaring is becoming more and more popular, and with that also comes the onset of mimics. Just like waxing, it's all in the skills. I can say that because I waxed for 8 years prior to my 15 years of sugaring. ;)

Please take a look at our website, we have some great videos and those are just samples, www.alexandriaprofessional.com, we have set the standard very high and have the most intense sugaring certification and advanced classes, that's how we stay on top and ahead in other countries. Yes, I can tell your first hand the Euro Esty's with 4-6 years of schooling are smarties over our programs in the US.

I"m not sure where you had your sugaring experience but I have a few REALLY good Esty's in Seattle that I would be more than happy to set you up with that will share their expertise with you and give you a first hand demo of what sugaring should be so you have something to compare to.

Please do your research and let me know if you have any questions, want demos, etc. I am happy and confident to provide anything you need to show why we are the best at what we do. And if you'd like to pop in and check out a class to see before you take the sugar plunge let me know and I can set that up for you too.

Feel free to email me and I can get you some names in your area.

lisannemarie@me.com or lisanne.w@alexandriapro.com

I hope we see your face at a sugar class soon,

Lisanne

Thanks Lisanne Marie,  I have found 2 local trainers for sugaring in the Seattle area - neither are Alexandria Professional's so I would like to know who is offering training on your methodology here.  I do not know what the difference is between products - I'm guessing not much and that the training differences are more related to technique.  It seems that Alexandria Professional is the leader in this discipline so I would very much like to pursue learning more about your education.  I did find an Alexandria trainer in San Diego but would rather not have to travel to do this!  Although SoCal is a nice place to be this time of year when you're from dark and damp Seattle.

Hey Deborah,

The products are different, sugar quality is important for the best technique but yes technique education, support, and advanced training is key to the best success.

There's a funny story I'll have to tell you someday why I know what I know.

To really check out the best of the best in your areas I would visit The Sweet Spot, Laura is the owner and does extremely well with sugaring full service and Suite Break Day Spa is another solo practitioner/educator that has  an amazing sugar business as well. Check them out and see what it's all about for yourself and ask them to get first hand info too.

Let me know if I can help you with any other info too

Thanks,

Lisanne

Thank you!

I took the sugaring class from Alexandria Pro... I really fell in love with sugaring after that class. I can't stop sugaring my friends and family. I plan on offering this service once I feel like I have it down. It's much different then waxing but I really love it...Hope that helps

Thanks Tiffany - I am looking forward to getting started on learning how to do this technique so it is good to know it takes awhile to get it down.

I agree with the sugar quality. I make my own sugar paste and never break out when with the most "gentler" wax - I do. :/

Deborah,

I'm curious if you went ahead and called either of those places in Seattle and received training from them. I'd really like to learn to do sugaring and would prefer to use Alexandria but like you, had trouble finding classes in Washington. While not super close, Seattle is at least manageable.

Hi Lisanne,

I'm an esty in Wisconsin.  Do you know of any sugaring classes I could take in WI?

Thanks,

Carol Derksen

Hi Carol,

We will back in Wisc later this summer, the next one closest would be Bloomington, Minnesota at the end of April. All the classes are listed on our website, www.alexandriaprofessional.com and if you would like to send me your email I can always put you on the email blast list so you get updates when new classes are posted too.

You can email me directly at lisanne.w@alexandriapro.com

We would love to see you in a class, where are you in Wisconsin? My dad is building a house near Hayward so we are always looking for spas to visit, my sisters and I don't care for the outdoor thing, we would sneak out the spa. ;)

Butting in here - Do you know of any classes in the Phoenix area Lisanne ?

Hey Deborah,

I use both wax and sugar.  I am not as proficient with the sugar as I would like to be, but I still love it.  I use it primarily for facial hair removal and in the Brazilian area for those that have trouble with ingrowns.  I find it's really wonderful for taking are of ingrowns because it exfoliates the dead cells without touching the live ones giving the hairs a way out.  I still use hard wax as well, and I think they compliment each other.  I'm not prepared to give up my hard wax.  :)

Sugaring, like waxing is all about technique.  If the person doing the service doesn't have their technique down, the result will not be as good as it could be.  As for breaking out, that could be normal depending on the area.

As for sugaring being a "cash cow", I would say yes, if you are very proficient, just as with waxing.  I can do a full Brazilian with sugar in the same time that I can do one with wax (20-30 minutes).   With sugaring, you can use the same ball of sugar for the entire service, so that saves a bit of money as well.  I end up using a bit more than I probably would if I were a little better at handling it, but still hair removal is always a money maker.

Hope this helps.
